GVT Sdn. Bhd. recently inked a significant agreement with Yutong Bus Co., Ltd., marking a pivotal move towards local distribution and CKD assembly of energy-efficient (EEV) and electric (EV) buses. The official signing ceremony featured Wan Ahmad Wan Omar, Executive Director of GVT, and Michael Lu, Regional Manager, Asia Pacific, Yutong.
Building on a prior agreement from February 2023, GVT is set to introduce 14 new models of EV and EEV buses from Yutong, with an additional order for 40 units of EEV buses. The CKD assembly will be carried out at Malaysia’s first electrical assembly facility, NexV Manufacturing Sdn. Bhd., located in Chembong, Negeri Sembilan. This facility, a joint venture between Careplus Group and GoAuto Group Sdn Bhd, is poised to commence operations in Q1 2025, aiming to provide a three-month time-saving advantage compared to conventional local assembly durations.
The Yutong Series buses highlight a sleek and futuristic design, aligning seamlessly with modern urban themes. Prioritizing accessibility, these buses feature a low entryway for easy boarding, wheelchair-friendly spaces, USB ports for drivers and passengers, and a BOSCH steering system. Impressively, these buses boast a quick acceleration time from 0 to 30 km in less than 10 seconds and a gradability of 15%.
Safety is paramount in the Yutong Series, with a reinforced closed-ring structure distributing optimal pressure during impacts. The buses integrate cutting-edge safety standards, including IP68 and IP6K9K compliance, along with optional features such as a 360-degree panoramic camera system, collision warning system, electronic braking system (EBS), and anti-lock braking system (ABS) + anti-slip regulation (ASR).
Yutong’s use of CATL batteries incorporates advanced safety features into the cooling system, including a nitrogen-cooling mechanism exclusively patented to Yutong. The Yutong Electric & Battery Safety Standard (YESS) ensures five layers of protection, enhancing overall safety levels, all-weather capability, and road adaptability.
Yutong’s EEV and EV buses are equipped with the RECTRL Intelligent Electric Drive System, aiming to reduce power consumption, extend battery life, and achieve zero emissions. The system includes four electronic technologies (stepless speed change, regenerative braking, dynamic frequency conversion, and inverter air conditioners) and four smart technologies (intelligent energy management, automatic cooling capacity adjustment, controller area network (CAN), and intelligent remote monitoring platform). These innovations collectively contribute to a comfortable, energy-efficient, and environmentally friendly public transportation solution.
