CelcomDigi Berhad (CelcomDigi) and Yinson GreenTech have joined forces to introduce an innovative offering allowing Malaysians to embrace electric vehicle (EV) ownership seamlessly through CelcomDigi postpaid accounts. The official launch of this collaboration, witnessed by the Minister of Investment, Trade & Industry (MITI), YB Senator Tengku Datuk Seri Utama Zafrul Aziz, marks a significant step towards making electric mobility more accessible in Malaysia.

The partnership, facilitated by CelcomDigi’s Innovation Centre and Yinson GreenTech, the green technology business unit of Yinson Holdings Berhad, introduces a lease-to-own program for the rydeEV e-bike. This groundbreaking initiative is a result of the Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) signed by both entities last September, dedicated to exploring innovative electric vehicle services and infrastructure for Malaysian consumers, thereby promoting EV and green energy adoption in the country.

Tengku Zafrul Aziz emphasized the government’s support for cross-industry collaborations, aligning with policies like the New Industrial Master Plan 2030 (NIMP2030) and the National Automotive Policy 2020 (NAP2020). He highlighted the potential of Malaysia’s growing EV industry and its contribution to the nation’s net-zero target by 2050.

CelcomDigi’s CEO, Datuk Idham Nawawi, expressed excitement about the partnership, stating that the collaboration with Yinson GreenTech is a game-changer in making EVs more accessible to Malaysians. He emphasized the importance of cross-industry collaborations in accelerating EV adoption and contributing to environmental sustainability.

Lim Chern Yuan, CEO of Yinson Group, shared his enthusiasm for pioneering the adoption and growth of e-motorcycles in Malaysia. Yinson GreenTech, with its range of integrated green tech solutions, aims to collaborate with like-minded businesses across industries to reduce carbon footprints.
