In light of Daihatsu Motor Co., Ltd.’s (DMC) recent announcement regarding the suspension of its models due to “procedural irregularities,” Perodua has issued a statement in response to the third-party committee’s report on the irregularities identified during safety tests conducted by DMC for various OEMs.

According to the third-party committee’s report, confirmed by DMC, all 174 irregularities identified were deemed to satisfy the standards set by laws and regulations. Perodua is currently conducting a thorough assessment of the matter and engaging in discussions with Malaysian authorities to understand the potential impact of this development on their vehicles.

Providing some context, on April 28, 2023, DMC disclosed the existence of procedural irregularities during safety tests on vehicles in Japan. Subsequently, DMC established a third-party investigative committee comprising legal and technical experts.

In their statement, Perodua expresses sincere apologies to their valued customers and the general public for any concerns arising from this announcement. Their primary objective is to reach out and reassure their valued customers. The outcome of the ongoing discussions with Malaysian authorities will be shared with the public in due course.
