SDAC (Sime Darby Auto ConneXion) has expanded its offerings in the Malaysian market with the introduction of new variants for the Ford Ranger and Ford Everest. The latest addition to the Ford Ranger lineup is the Platinum variant, positioning itself between the Wildtrak and the Raptor. Meanwhile, for the Ford Everest, the top-of-the-line model is now the Everest Wildtrak, making it the most luxurious choice for Malaysian consumers.

Ford Malaysia’s introduction of the Ranger Platinum marks the creation of a brand-new automotive segment, known as the luxury pickup truck. The Ranger Platinum is equipped with Ford’s robust 2.0L Bi Turbo diesel engine, generating 210 PS and an impressive 500 Nm of torque. This powerplant is coupled with a 10-speed automatic transmission and an electronically controlled part-time four-wheel drive system.

Externally, the Ranger Platinum showcases a distinctive appearance, featuring multiple chrome trims, ‘PLATINUM’ badges on the hood, front doors, and tailgate, 20-inch Alloy Wheels, Matrix LED Headlamps with auto dynamic leveling, LED DTRL, LED taillights, and a damped tailgate. Additionally, a unique Equinox Brown color option is exclusive to the Ranger Platinum.

Exclusive to the Ranger Platinum are three standout factory-fitted features. The first is the Swing-in-Place Roof-Rails, which can be conveniently stowed away when not in use. The second is the Power Roller Shutter, allowing the roller shutter to be opened or closed with a simple press of a button on the key fob or inside the truck bed. Lastly, the Flexible Rack System, a first in its class, enables the Ranger Platinum to carry longer items on the roof with added support.

Inside the Ranger Platinum, you’ll find quilted leather-accented seats and a 12.4-inch digital instrument cluster, along with a 12-inch infotainment screen featuring the latest SYNC®4A technology. The vehicle boasts B&O speakers, ambient lighting, an E-Shifter, and Active Park Assist 2.0. The front seats are heated and ventilated, offering 10-way power adjustments and a memory function for the driver. The Ranger Platinum’s interior enhancements also include an Everest-inspired dashboard with a closed shelf and upper glovebox, complemented by badging on the front seats and floor mats.

In conjunction with the Ranger Platinum, SDAC has also unveiled the Special Edition Ford Everest WildTrak. This model is tailored for those seeking a capable 7-seater SUV that excels off-road, while still providing luxurious comfort and convenience. The Everest WildTrak comes in a distinctive Luxe Yellow color with Boulder Grey accents.

Similar to the Ranger Platinum, the Everest WildTrak is powered by the same 2.0L Bi-Turbo engine paired with a 10-speed automatic transmission and 4WD capabilities, featuring six selectable drive modes for optimal performance across all terrains: Normal, Eco, Tow/Haul, Slippery, Mud/Ruts, and Sand. It comes with a short-throw e-Shifter, electric parking brake, advanced driver assist systems (ADAS), and fully automated parking assistance.

Inside the Everest WildTrak, black synthetic-leather seats with orange stitching and the ‘WildTrak’ logo on the front seats contribute to its rugged yet stylish appearance, complemented by ambient lighting on the dashboard. The vehicle also boasts a 12-inch multi-touch screen multifunction display, as well as a 12.4-inch color information display on the cluster. To illuminate the cabin and provide an open-air feel, a large panoramic moonroof is included.

On the exterior, the Everest WildTrak stands out with a bold grille featuring black ‘WILDTRAK’ lettering on the hood. The Raised Roof Rails offer additional space for carrying extra items, making it practical for adventures. The Everest WildTrak comes equipped with a comprehensive suite of driver-assist technologies, including the fully automated Active Park Assist 2.0, simplifying parking in tight spaces.
