Hyundai-Sime Darby Motors (HSDM) is gearing up to accept reservations for their upcoming 4th generation Hyundai Tucson and the refreshed Santa Fe in Malaysia. The Tucson, a long-awaited addition to Hyundai Malaysia’s lineup, falls into the C-segment SUV category. The facelifted Santa Fe, on the other hand, will present a rejuvenated appearance and an updated powertrain.
HSDM has disclosed that the Hyundai Tucson will be available in three different variants: 2.0 Lite, 1.6T Plus, and 1.6T Max. The 2.0 Lite variant boasts a 2.0L Smartstream MPI engine generating 156 PS and 192 Nm of torque. This engine is paired with a 6-speed automatic transmission that directs power to the front wheels. Meanwhile, the 1.6T variants are equipped with a turbocharged Smartstream 1.6 TGDi engine delivering 180 PS and 265 Nm of torque, coupled with a seven-speed wet dual-clutch transmission (DCT) with electronic shifter. This powertrain also sends its power to the front wheels.
The Hyundai Tucson will flaunt a striking exterior design featuring distinctive elements such as concealed daytime running lights within a Parametric Jewel grille, full-width tail lamps, angular wheel arches, and intricate, sculpted surfaces. The interior complements the futuristic exterior with a button-less center stack beneath an 8-inch infotainment touchscreen, offering wireless Android Auto/Apple CarPlay compatibility and voice recognition.
All Tucson variants will include safety features such as 7 airbags, an electronic parking brake with auto hold, Blind Spot Collision Warning, and Safe Exit Warning. The top-of-the-line 1.6T Max variant will be equipped with eight-way powered and heated/ventilated driver and front passenger seats, a fully digital 10.25-inch instrument panel, a power tailgate, auto wipers, wireless phone charging, and a complete Hyundai SmartSense safety suite, including Smart Cruise Control. The Tucson will be available in a range of colors, including Amazon Gray Metallic, Phantom Black Pearl, Creamy White Pearl, Crimson Red Pearl, and Silky Bronze Metallic, though the last two colors are not offered for the 2.0 Lite variant.
Turning to the Santa Fe, it will continue to be locally assembled in Kulim, Kedah, and Hyundai plans to introduce hybrid variants in Malaysia. The Santa Fe will also be offered in three different variants, including Hybrid Plus, Hybrid Max, and Diesel Max models.
The hybrid variant will feature a 1.6L turbocharged petrol engine producing 180 PS and 265 Nm of torque, combined with a 44.2 kW electric motor, resulting in a total system output of 230 PS and 350 Nm of torque, with power sent to the front wheels via a six-speed automatic transmission. The diesel variant, on the other hand, will be powered by a 2.2L CRDi turbo diesel engine delivering 202 PS and 440 Nm of torque, mated to an 8-speed dual-clutch transmission and the HTRAC all-wheel drive system.
All three Santa Fe variants will come equipped with six airbags, the full Hyundai SmartSense safety suite, an 8-inch touchscreen with wireless Android Auto/Apple CarPlay, voice recognition, auto wipers, and wireless phone charging. The Hybrid Max and Diesel Max versions will offer leather seats, a fully digital 12.3-inch instrument panel, and a power tailgate, with the top-tier Hybrid Max exclusively featuring heated/ventilated driver and front passenger seats and driver’s seat memory. Color options for the Santa Fe include Snowflake White Pearl, Jet Black, Meteor Grey, and Stormy Sea.
More details about the new Tucson and Santa Fe will be unveiled closer to the launch date. In the meantime, customers can make reservations at any authorized Hyundai sales outlet across the country or through Hyundai’s online booking platform Cl!cktoBuy (https://www.hyundai.com.my/clicktobuy/).
