Tesla Malaysia has recently introduced the highly anticipated Tesla Model 3, which will join the ranks of their Model Y SUV in the local market. This new addition was first made available for booking on the Tesla Malaysia website a few months ago. The Model 3, renowned as Tesla’s best-selling electric sedan, offers prospective buyers a choice between two variants: the Rear Wheel Drive (RWD) and the Long Range variant, with respective starting prices of RM 189,000 and RM 218,000.
Malaysian consumers will be pleased to know that the Model 3 introduced in the country is the latest facelift model, arriving just one month after its global debut. This updated version of the Model 3 boasts refinements, improved range, and a more premium interior. While the overall silhouette remains unchanged, Tesla has thoughtfully enhanced the headlights and taillights, adding a touch of sophistication to the Model 3.
For the Malaysian market, the Model 3 is available in five distinctive colors, including Pearl White Multi-Coat (included), Solid Black (RM 5,000), Deep Blue Metallic (RM 5,000), Stealth Grey (RM 7,500), and Ultra Red (RM 11,000). Additionally, customers have the option to choose between two wheel designs: the standard 18” Photon Wheels, included in the base price, or the 19” Nova Wheels, available for an additional RM 7,500.
Under the hood, the RWD variant is equipped with a single motor powering the rear wheels, enabling it to accelerate from 0 to 100 km/h in a swift 6.1 seconds, with a top speed of 201 km/h. Meanwhile, the Long Range variant features two electric motors for even quicker acceleration, reaching 0 to 100 km/h in just 4.4 seconds, with the same top speed of 201 km/h. In terms of range, the RWD variant offers a WLTP range of 513 km, while the Long Range variant boasts an impressive WLTP range of 629 km.
The most significant updates in this latest Model 3 are found in its interior, where Tesla has succeeded in making it more appealing than ever. The minimalist design approach, a hallmark of Tesla vehicles, is maintained, with most in-car settings integrated into a spacious 15.4” center touchscreen. Notably, the Model 3 now features 360-degree acoustic glass for a quieter interior. Other interior enhancements include wrap-around ambient lighting, a 17-speaker sound system, ventilated seats, an 8” rear center touchscreen, a new steering wheel, and a redesigned center console to elevate the overall cabin experience.
Customers have the option to select from two different interior color schemes. The standard offering is a black interior at no additional cost, but those who desire a white interior will need to pay an extra RM 5,000. Furthermore, customers can opt to include the Enhanced Autopilot for RM 16,000 or the Full Self-Driving Capability at RM 32,000.
Tesla Malaysia has announced that deliveries of the Model 3 are expected to commence in late 2023. In conjunction with the Model 3 launch, Tesla Malaysia has unveiled their flagship Tesla Experience Center at Pavilion Damansara Heights. This 3,000 square-foot showroom will showcase Tesla’s complete model lineup, providing a comprehensive Tesla experience for customers in Malaysia.
