In a significant initiative to bolster technical education in Perak, Proton has generously provided seven units of its locally assembled 1.5 TGDi engines to educational institutions within the state. The engines were officially handed over during a special ceremony held as part of the Proton Growing Together Fun Ride.
The Proton Growing Together Fun Ride is a 30-kilometer cycling event organized to commemorate the company’s 40th anniversary. The event drew a participation of over five hundred enthusiasts and was graced by the presence of YB Chang Lih Kang, the Minister of Science, Technology, and Innovation, and Member of Parliament for Tanjong Malim.
The fortunate recipients of these cutting-edge engines include Politeknik Sultan Azlan Shah, Behrang, Kolej Vokasional Slim River, Giat Mara Tanjong Malim, and Universiti Pendidikan Sultan Idris in Tanjong Malim. PROTON’s 1.5 TGDi engine, renowned for its advanced technology and impressive performance, is meticulously assembled on a climate-controlled production line at the company’s Tanjong Malim plant.
These engines are set to play a pivotal role in enhancing the educational experience of students, offering them invaluable hands-on training in engine servicing and development. This initiative will serve to align their skills with the ever-evolving demands of the industry, ensuring they are well-prepared for the challenges ahead.
Beyond the engine handover ceremony, PROTON also extended its support to three exceptionally talented brothers by contributing RM3,000. These young prodigies, Shameer Pandurar (16), Shaheer Pandurar (14), and Shazlan Pandurar (13), are students of SMK Proton City. Together, they achieved remarkable success at the International Invention, Innovation, and Technology Exhibition (ITEX23), earning a gold medal at the World Young Inventions Exhibition (WYIE) and the coveted title of Best Young Inventors at the Malaysian Young Inventions Exhibition (MYIE).
