In the third quarter of 2023, Perodua experienced a remarkable surge in sales, marking a 28.3% increase compared to the same period in 2022. The company sold 88,537 units, demonstrating the incredible momentum behind their production efforts.

This outstanding rise in sales can be attributed to significant improvements in production efficiency. During this quarter, Perodua produced a total of 91,528 units, representing a substantial 21.7% increase over the 75,196 units produced in the third quarter of 2022. Perodua’s President and Chief Executive Officer, Dato’ Sri Zainal Abidin Ahmad, highlighted the pivotal role played by enhanced operational efficiency in this achievement.

Zainal Abidin Ahmad emphasized the significance of this third quarter as a turning point for Perodua. It marked the beginning of a push to increase their monthly production beyond 30,000 units, as the supply of raw materials and parts now aligns with the soaring demand. He stated, “The third quarter of 2023 is our starting point in terms of increasing monthly production above 30,000 units per month as supplies of raw materials and parts can now catch up with demand.”

In terms of year-to-date (YTD) figures, Perodua’s production has reached 245,341 units as of September 2023, a notable 18.6% increase from the 206,837 units produced during the same period last year. Zainal Abidin Ahmad expressed his confidence in the Malaysian automotive ecosystem, stating that this increase in production showcases their potential to enhance economies of scale while maintaining quality and cost efficiency.

Looking ahead, Zainal Abidin Ahmad anticipates an extraordinary fourth quarter for Perodua. He explained, “With these improvements, Perodua’s production and sales outlook for the fourth quarter of 2023 would be at their highest in the company’s history.” The company remains dedicated to reducing customer waiting times and aims to deliver a more streamlined experience starting from January 2024.

In terms of registrations, Perodua reported a YTD figure of 233,227 units for the first nine months of 2023, a significant increase from the 196,354 units sold during the same period in the previous year. Zainal Abidin Ahmad credited this positive development with strengthening Perodua’s production capacity and improving car deliveries. He also expressed confidence in achieving their registration target of 314,000 units for the year.

Analyzing month-on-month comparisons, Perodua registered 28,995 units in September 2023, reflecting a 17.7% increase from the 24,626 units registered in September 2022. On the production front, the company manufactured 31,447 cars in September 2023, an 8.2% increase compared to the 29,077 units produced in September 2022. These figures underscore Perodua’s sustained growth and commitment to meeting the demands of its expanding customer base.
