Castrol Malaysia is excited to introduce its new “Castrol Back to School” campaign, a comprehensive endeavor dedicated to nurturing a culture of road safety awareness among young motorcyclists. This initiative underscores Castrol’s unwavering commitment to safeguarding lives on the road while promoting the critical message of safety and protection.

According to data from the World Health Organization (WHO), one in every three road-related fatalities in Southeast Asia involves motorcyclists. Shockingly, the Malaysia Road Fatalities Index, spanning from 2010 to 2019, documented that an alarming 59% of fatalities were linked to motorcyclists. These statistics underscore the urgent need for a more robust road safety campaign, beginning with education and empowerment.

In collaboration with MotoWazi and with the invaluable support of the Ministry of Education, the “Castrol Back to School” program is meticulously tailored to engage high school students aged 16 and 17 who have recently acquired their motorcycle licenses. The program encompasses a well-rounded blend of theoretical and practical road safety sessions, all conducted within the school premises during regular school hours.

Road safety is a collective responsibility that demands immediate attention. Through the “Castrol Back to School” initiative, Castrol aspires to instill a deep-rooted culture of safety among young motorcyclists, underscoring that protection commences with making the right choices. Among these choices is the selection of Castrol lubricants for their motorcycles. “We aim to equip these young riders with the knowledge and skills necessary to ensure their safety on the road,” stated Keow Mei-shan, Marketing Director of Castrol Malaysia and Singapore.

Wazi Bin Abdul Hamid, an accomplished motorcycle safety instructor and a renowned road safety expert, will spearhead the theoretical sessions, ensuring that students receive invaluable insights into road safety practices and regulations. The MotoWazi team is enthusiastic about this partnership and its potential to influence young riders positively.

In its initial phase, the “Castrol Back to School” campaign will be implemented in ten schools across the Klang Valley region from September to October 2023. Castrol envisions expanding this program to fifty schools nationwide in 2024, with the overarching goal of creating a safer road environment for all Malaysians.
