Bermaz Motor recently hosted its 9th annual Mazda Charity Golf Tournament, a heart-warming event that has consistently championed the cause of the Mazda Medicare Fund (MMF). The MMF is dedicated to extending humanitarian assistance and medical support to underprivileged individuals in Malaysia. Over the years, it has made substantial contributions to charitable communities, including elderly care homes and orphanages, through a combination of financial aid and charity events.

This year’s charity golf tournament took place at the prestigious Glenmarie Golf & Country Club in Shah Alam, attracting an impressive turnout of 184 participants. The generosity of golfers, donors, and sponsors shone through, helping the event raise approximately RM 800,000.00. These proceeds will be channelled into the MMF, reaffirming the charity’s commitment to its noble cause.

During the prize-giving luncheon, representatives from various beneficiaries, including Mount Miriam Cancer Hospital TKPKMM (Tabung Kebajikan Penyakit Kanser Mount Mariam) in Penang, Pertubuhan Rumah Anak Yatim Berkat Kasih (House of Love), and Pertubahan Baitul Mahabbah, graced the stage to receive symbolic checks, highlighting the tangible impact of this charitable endeavour.

The MMF, established in 2015 and jointly managed by Prima Merdu Sdn Bhd in collaboration with B. Braun Avitum Renal Services, focuses on providing life-saving haemodialysis treatment to end-stage renal disease (ESRD) patients facing financial constraints. With 13 B. Braun dialysis centres operating across the nation, eligible patients receive subsidized haemodialysis treatments. Over the past seven years, MMF’s unwavering dedication has resulted in contributions totalling RM 5 million, supporting B. Braun Dialysis Centres and charitable homes throughout Malaysia.

Furthermore, the MMF has reached out to a diverse array of charitable communities, encompassing old folks’ homes, orphanages, individuals with disabilities, and children with Down syndrome. Rigorous selection and vetting by the MMF Team ensure that all donations are allocated efficiently. The MMF Team comprises volunteers within the Bermaz organization, meaning that every donation goes directly to those in need without any overhead costs.

In 2018, the introduction of the Mazda Privilege Card (MPC) allowed applicants to contribute RM 100.00, serving as a donation to the MMF. In addition to supporting underprivileged individuals, Mazda owners enjoy tax exemption from Lembaga Hasil Dalam Negeri (LHDN).

The MPC initiative has garnered immense support for its commendable objective. Beyond social contributions, MPC owners receive benefits, including a 15% discount on selected Mazda genuine spare parts and a 5% discount on labour charges at Mazda Showrooms and Service Centres operated by Bermaz Motor and Prima Merdu. This dual-purpose approach has fuelled a significant increase in donations to the MMF, thanks to the unwavering commitment of socially responsible Mazda owners who actively participate in various charitable programs facilitated by Bermaz Motor.
