Bermaz Auto it proudly announce the graduation of 159 students from its esteemed Bermaz Auto Apprenticeship Program. The graduation ceremony took place on September 8th, 2023. This remarkable cohort of graduates comprises participants from three distinct technical training programs, including 43 from the BAuto Apprenticeship Program, 21 from the BAuto Mechanic Program (BAMP), and 22 from the BAuto Body & Paint (BABP) program, culminating in a total of 116 graduates from the Mazda Master Technical and Non-Technical streams. These accomplished graduates have already secured positions within Bermaz Auto Berhad and will be stationed at service centers representing the three prestigious automotive brands under the group’s umbrella: Mazda, Peugeot, and Kia.
The success of Bermaz’s Apprenticeship Program has garnered well-deserved recognition, catching the eye of Mazda Saudi Arabia, the exclusive distributor of Mazda vehicles under Haji Hussein Alireza Co. Ltd. in Saudi Arabia. Mazda Saudi Arabia, in need of skilled Body & Paint technicians, sought support through Mazda Corporation Japan, ultimately leading to a partnership with Bermaz Auto. Building on their past collaboration with the MARA Skills Institute (IKM) as part of the Technical Intern Training Program (TITP), Bermaz Auto invited MARA to participate in the selection process for potential candidates.
The candidate selection process was conducted virtually by a representative from Haji Hussein Alireza & Co. Ltd. (HHA), culminating in the selection of four highly qualified candidates who passed practical tests and interview sessions. Two of these exceptional individuals came from the Bermaz Auto Apprenticeship Program, while the other two were chosen by MARA from MARA Skills Institute (IKM). These chosen candidates embarked on their promising career journeys in Saudi Arabia with Haji Hussein Alireza & Co. Ltd.
In addition to the Bermaz Auto Apprenticeship Program graduation, 29 staff members achieved certification in the IMI EV Certification Levels 3 and 4. Notably, four staff members received Level 3 certification, while an impressive 25 staff members earned Level 4 certification from The Institute of the Motor Industry (IMI) in the United Kingdom. This recognition was awarded following rigorous theoretical and practical assessments conducted by UK EV Certified trainers.
Bermaz Auto has been dedicated to developing human capital, where the company has the commitment to train and up skill their staff in electric vehicle (EV) technologies, both domestically and internationally. As part of their commitment to high-risk, high-voltage repairs, Bermaz Auto invested over RM 10 million in state-of-the-art training equipment to ensure safety and procedural excellence.
Amid the challenges posed by the global pandemic, Bermaz Auto undertook a restructuring plan to streamline its programs, encompassing reskilling, upskilling, and electrification. In 2021, Bermaz Auto established the Reskilling and EV Centre at Lot 6 in Glenmarie. This marked the beginning of a new era, with all apprenticeship programs being rebranded under the Bermaz Auto banner. The BAuto Mechatronic Training (BAMT) program replaced the Mazda Apprenticeship Program (MAP), BAuto Body & Paint Program (BAPP) succeeded the Body & Paint Program (BPP), and BAuto Mechanic Program (BAMP) took the place of the Mazda Mechanic Program (MMP). Additionally, all training centers were renamed as Bermaz Auto Training School (BAuto Training School) to encompass all three automotive brands within the Bermaz Auto Group.
BAuto Training School offers three Technical and Vocational Education and Training (TVET) apprenticeship programs certified by the Jabatan Pembangunan Kemahiran (JPK) and the Institute of The Motor Industry (IMI) in the United Kingdom. This training institution plays a pivotal role in imparting EV technology expertise, including Safety Awareness and Autonomous Technology training, certified by IMI and JPK. These efforts culminated in Bermaz Auto receiving the prestigious Malaysia Education & TVET Awards in 2023, solidifying its commitment to fostering a sustainable future for aspiring youth in the automotive industry.
