TotalEnergies Malaysia and ARUS Academy have joined hands in a collaborative effort to introduce the VIA Safe Mobility Malaysia 2023 program, which aims to foster safe mobility practices and enhance road safety awareness among students and communities in Malaysia.

Designed for primary and secondary school students across the nation, this program is tailored to educate and empower the upcoming generation as road safety ambassadors and responsible road users. Its objectives encompass imparting knowledge about road safety regulations, promoting safe pedestrian behavior, and teaching how to navigate road infrastructure securely. Furthermore, it incorporates a focus on Malaysia-specific road safety considerations while integrating 21st-century skills like problem-solving, STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics), and critical thinking. This holistic approach equips students to learn, assume responsibility, and advocate for safer routes when walking or traveling to school.

At the official launch of this initiative, Jennifer Li, the Managing Director of TotalEnergies Malaysia, expressed her enthusiasm for this partnership. She highlighted that the VIA Safe Mobility Malaysia program signifies a shared commitment between TotalEnergies Malaysia and ARUS Academy to contribute to the safety and well-being of the community.

Since its inception in July 2022, the program has already been implemented in 89 schools throughout Malaysia. This endeavor has seen 283 teachers trained and reached 26,125 children aged 10 to 16 years old. The program utilizes a digitally friendly web-based learning structure, culminating in a capstone project. The ultimate goal is to expand its reach to 220 schools nationwide.

Notably, the VIA Safe Mobility Program has been introduced on a global scale through the TotalEnergies Foundation. The program’s deployment is gaining momentum, with a significant milestone of 500,000 participants recently achieved. It has been adopted in 1,500 schools and youth centers across 40 countries on five continents, with partnerships established with approximately 40 local NGOs worldwide.

The official launch of the VIA Safe Mobility Malaysia 2023 program was attended by representatives from Sekolah Kebangsaan Desa Pandan and Sekolah Kebangsaan Bukit Jalil, both of which are actively participating in the program.
