The International Automodified (IAM) Kuala Lumpur and Malaysia International Motor Expo (MIME) 2023 will be taking place from October 27th to 29th at the Malaysia International Trade & Exhibition Centre (MITEC) in Kuala Lumpur. This event promises an unparalleled display of vehicles, innovations, and cutting-edge automotive technology. Backed by the Malaysia Automotive, Robotics and IoT Institute (MARii), IAM-MIME 2023 is set to be a dynamic convergence of automotive stakeholders, car dealers, and original equipment manufacturers (OEMs).
IAM-MIME 2023 will cover three distinct automotive genres within a single event. Primarily, it serves as a platform for showcasing new cars from both legacy automakers and emerging brands. The second focal point is an Electric Vehicle (EV) Fest, dedicated to displaying a diverse array of EVs boasting around 400km of range on a single charge, with price tags ranging from RM100,000 to RM500,000.
Among the spotlight vehicles, the event will feature Mercedes-Benz’s EQB 350 sports utility vehicle (SUV), along with models from Mazda, KIA, and Peugeot, presented by Bermaz Auto Berhad. A notable highlight will be a modified Tesla courtesy of Exotic Mods Sdn Bhd, an independent Tesla and European sales, spare parts, and service center. JPM Museo, one of Malaysia’s largest private collectors of hypercars, and Utama Motors, renowned for their supercar collection, will also have captivating displays.
Founder Yamin Vong of MIME emphasizes the event’s allure with a special focus on providing visitors and potential buyers the chance to test drive electric vehicles. Adding to the excitement, a digital poll will be conducted for the “People’s Choice Car of the Year,” offering participants the opportunity to win hourly prizes. The coveted title will be unveiled at the Car of the Year Awards ceremony slated for November 15, 2023.
The show’s third and most vibrant facet is a grand exhibition of around 300 customized cars that will form the heart of the International Automodified (IAM) display. IAM has risen to become Southeast Asia’s largest and longest-running modified car show, attracting car tuning enthusiasts and aficionados alike. With its legacy spanning over 38 cities in Indonesia since 2001 and extending to Malaysia, Singapore, and Thailand, IAM’s reputation precedes it. The show awards nearly 100 distinctions to the finest vehicles in each category, enhancing its status as Southeast Asia’s premier car tuning and lifestyle show.
The fusion of IAM and MIME, which commenced in 2022, has proven to be a winning formula. The inaugural three-day event held at the Kuala Lumpur Convention Centre drew approximately 104,000 visitors, showcasing over 100 of Malaysia’s top-tier modified vehicles. This year’s iteration is set to triple those numbers, cementing its reputation as a can’t-miss automotive extravaganza.
The IAM-MIME 2023 tour will kick off in Singapore from October 21st to 22nd before making its pivotal stop in Kuala Lumpur from October 27th to 29th. The journey continues to Jakarta, Indonesia on December 2nd to 3rd, culminating in Bangkok, Thailand on December 9th to 10th. Furthermore, IAM is actively working towards making its debut in the United States in the summer of 2024.
Beyond the captivating vehicle displays, IAM-MIME 2023 will feature a plethora of attractions, including racing simulators, a remote-controlled exhibit, gatherings by various car clubs, a showcase of exotic royal cars, a live music festival, and a bounty of prizes and giveaways for attendees.
