Regas Premium Sabah, in collaboration with JomCharge, recently introduced the very first public Electric Vehicle (EV) charging station in the state of Sabah. The station is conveniently located at the basement parking facility of T1 @ Bundusan, marking a significant step in advancing sustainable transportation options.
This initiative underscores Regas Premium Sabah’s dedication to leading the charge in electromobility solutions within the state, aligning with the larger vision of BMW Group Malaysia’s nationwide expansion of charging infrastructure. In collaboration with JomCharge, Regas Premium Sabah has successfully established a cutting-edge charging network that caters to the surging demand for environmentally friendly transport options.
The new charging facility boasts two 11 kWh AC charging bays, situated within the basement parking area of T1 @ Bundusan on Jalan Bundusan, Taman Cemerlang, Kota Kinabalu, Sabah (89500). This charging station is accessible 24 hours a day, seven days a week, offering an affordable rate of RM6 per hour to the public.
This milestone achievement serves as a starting point for Regas Premium Sabah’s grander vision of expanding the EV charging infrastructure across the region. The company remains resolute in its commitment to make EV charging easily accessible in every corner of Sabah. An emphasis will be placed on areas like Tawau, which feature prominently in the company’s forthcoming expansion blueprints.
In parallel, BMW Group Malaysia has played a vital role in fostering EV adoption with the establishment of more than 1,000 charging facilities within its network. Over 400 of these facilities have been made available through partnerships with industry leaders like ChargEV and Yinson Greentech. The collaboration with JomCharge provides access to an additional 100 charging stations, while Gentari adds over 150 facilities and new partners, including Shell Recharge with ParkEasy, ChargeN’Go, ChargeSini, Go To-U, and FlexiParking, contribute approximately 160 more. Moreover, a considerable number of BMW i and MINI charging points are conveniently located at authorized dealerships and partnering locations across the country, with further expansion planned as part of the strategic infrastructure development roadmap for the upcoming year.
