In an ambitious endeavour to nurture the next generation of motorsport luminaries, Hot Rocket Racing Club proudly introduces its brand new initiative, the Driver Development Program. Cantered around go-karting and sim racing, this innovative program aims to discover and cultivate prodigious talent, with the ultimate goal of creating world-class drivers to represent Hot Rocket in prestigious racing events worldwide.
The first step in this exciting venture is the upcoming Buaya Endurance Race on August 27, 2023, a gripping go-kart event hosted by Hot Rocket Racing Club itself. This thrilling competition will serve as the platform for talent scouting, where 15 exceptional performers will be rewarded with the golden opportunity to don the prestigious Hot Rocket colors in the Pinnacle Go-kart Circuit’s end-of-year 6-hour endurance race in Subang.
Prior to the endurance race, all selected drivers will undergo intensive training at the state-of-the-art Pinnacle Go-kart Circuit in Subang. The focus will not only be on honing their racing skills but also on equipping them mentally to tackle any challenges that may arise during the race.
The Buaya Endurance Race, a 2-hour non-stop go-karting event, will feature 15 teams, each comprising 2 to 4 drivers, battling it out on a 1km track. To achieve maximum laps within the given timeframe, drivers will switch every 15 minutes, making it a test of strategy, skill, consistency, and discipline rather than just raw speed. Teamwork will play a crucial role, with the best-performing drivers starting and finishing the race, while middle stint drivers maintain a consistent pace under the guidance of the team manager. The manager’s strategic decisions will be key, while the timekeeper records lap performances to optimize stints and avoid penalties.
Beyond the thrill of competition, a generous prize pool worth RM10,000 sponsored by benefactors awaits the victorious teams. Additionally, all participants will receive various freebies and ‘rocket points’ that can be redeemed for motorsport accessories and go-kart sessions at select outlets.
The name ‘Buaya’ holds a special significance within the Hot Rocket community, affectionately used to describe exceptionally fast drivers. Derived from the Malay word for crocodile, ‘Buaya’ aptly symbolizes the racers’ stealthy and elusive behaviour on the track, reminiscent of a saltwater crocodile stalking its prey. In honour of these “silent killers,” the management team at Hot Rocket decided to dedicate an entire race to them, giving birth to the ‘Buaya’ Endurance Race on August 27, 2023
