BMW Malaysia recently add 2 more high performance models for the Malaysian market. The 1st model here is the BMW iX M60, which is BMW’s most powerful iX that receives the M performance treatment. And on the other hand, the 2nd model is the all new BMW M2, which is the continuation of BMW’s 2-door compact performance car that shares it’s technologies with the BMW M3 and M4.
Starting with the BMW iX M60, it has a strong output of 619 hp and an impressive range of 561km (WLTP). This model is one of the fastest electric model in BMW’s portfolio, and it comes with an impressive drag coefficient of 0.26. It will also feature that signature BMW M IconicSounds Electric designed by Hans Zimmer. And paired with that 1,100 Nm of peak torque, the iX M60 can hit the 100 km/h mark in just 3.8 seconds and to a top speed of 250 km/h.
To keep the vehicle as planted as possible, the battery is positioned in the vehicle floor between the 2 axles. And by using the aluminium space frame concept and carbon cage with carbon fibre reinforced plastic (CFRP) in the roof, side, and rear sections, BMW engineers managed to maintain the BMW’s balanced weight distribution with the iX.
The BMW iX M60 will also come standard with M Sport brakes, adaptive two-axle air suspension with M-specific tuning and components, and Integral Active Steering. By using 2 electric motors, BMW managed to make the iX M60 an all-wheel drive vehicle. Paired with the near-actuator wheel slip limitation technology, the iX M60 can tackle any road conditions.
As for charging, the iX M60 have a maximum charging rate of 195 kW, which enable the vehicle to reach 80% charge in just 35 minutes. The iX M60 could also being charged up with the 22kW AC Wallbox Charger, with a charging time of under 5.5 hours from 0 to 100% charge. An 11 kW AC Wallbox Charger can achieve a full charge in 11 hours. Apart from that, there are over 1,000 charging facilities nationwide provided by major local EV charging partners.
On the outside, the iX M60 will come with model-exclusive 22-inch BMW Individual M aerodynamic wheels in bicolour titanium bronze 3D polished buff. The vehicle can be opted in High Gloss Black or Titanium Bronze model badge. Inside the vehicle, the iX M60 gets the high end Bower and Wilkins Diamond surround sound system that features 30 speakers with 2 diamond tweeters. This sound system produces a whopping 1,615W of sound.
The iX M60 will be upholstered in the Interior Design Suite Amido and the Interior Design Suite Castanea, complemented by the central console and central armrest in Sensatec. Just like any modern day BMWs, it will feature the BMW Live Cockpit Professional, with a curved 12.3-inch instrument display and 14.9-inch central display as standard.
Other than that, the iX M60 features multifunctional seats for the driver, wireless charging storage, automatic air conditioning with 4-zone control, and various technology features such as Intelligent Emergency Call, Teleservices, ConnectedDrive Services, Connected Package Professional, BMW Natural Interaction, and Active Protection. Safety wise, the iX M60 will get Driving Assistant Professional, Parking Assistant Professional, and new cruise control with braking function.
The BMW iX M60 will be priced at RM 630,800, and it will be available in Mineral White, Alpine White Metallic, Black Sapphire Metallic, Sophisto Grey Metallic with Brilliant Effect, Phytonic Blue Metallic, and Blue Ridge Mountain Metallic. Special colors are Individual Storm Bay Metallic and Aventurine Red Metallic. And the interior is available in Mocha or Black, or the Interior Design Suite in Amido or Castanea.
Coming to the 2nd car that was launch recently, the BMW M2, it comes in a whole new generation. At the front, the new M2 comes with a distinctive unframed kidney grille with horizontal slats, striking apron, large square-shaped air intakes denoting high cooling requirements. Beside it, there are the adaptive LED headlights with High-beam Assistant.
At the back, the M2 comes with a lip spoiler that work together with the rear diffuser to provide downforce for the vehicle. You also get the hallmark M twin tailpipes to give the car a defining feature. On top of that, the M2 gets M High-gloss Shadowline as standard. And you can even add the M Carbon Roof and M Lights Shadowline with the Pro Package.
To complete the looks, the M2 comes with staggered Double-spoke style M light alloy wheels (19-inch front and 20-inch rear). Behind the rims, the regular car gets blue brake callipers, but the Pro Package will give you red callipers. The M2 comes with 390L of boot space and it can be expanded by folding the seats down.
Inside, you get a very sporty interior within the M2. There are the BMW Curved Display with M specific displays running the latest BMW M iDrive, which combines Information Display and Control Display into 1 display unit. The M3 also gets standard full electric M sport seats with specific side bolsters, and an illuminated M logo on the headrest.
Other standard sporting complements include M leather steering wheel with shift paddles and red M Mode buttons, M Anthracite headliner, Aluminium Rhombicle Anthracite M Interior Trim, eight-speed M steptronic gearbox, Setup and M Mode buttons for the center console, and Head-Up Display with M specific design and M font colors (available for the first time in the BMW M2). Adding on to that, the Pro Package will add M Seat Belts and ‘Carbon Fiber’ M Interior Trim.
The M2 will also feature ambient light, three-zone automatic air conditioning, storage compartment package, Interior and Exterior Mirror Package, and Interior Rear-view Mirror with Automatic Anti-dazzle Function as standard. The interior space is now bigger as well, thanks to the longer wheelbase on the new M2.
Powering the new M2 is the 3.0L M TwinPower Turbo inline 6 cylinder engine, which produces 460 hp and 550 Nm of torque. This engine is mated to an 8-speed Steptronic Sport transmission, which allowed the M2 to accelerate from 0-100 km/h in 4.1 seconds, and to a limited top speed of 250 km/h. With the M Driver’s Package, owners can unlock the top speed of the M2 to 285 km/h.
To help handle these power, the M2 comes with with improved axle kinematics, an increased track width, and aluminum components to reduce weight. The front axle uses a double wishbone made out of aluminium, and the rear uses a 5-link suspension that was improved from before. There are also the active M Differential to help with traction, and 6 piston front brake calliper to slow the vehicle down. Additionally, there are also Adaptive M Suspension and M Drive Professional System to make the car very capable in the corners.
Coming back to the infotainment system, it is running the latest BMW Operating System 8 with user-configurable widgets for real-time information. It also feature Bluetooth® and WiFi connectivity and two USB ports for data transfers and charging mobile devices. This system can also be updated through the Remote Software Upgrade function.
This infotainment system is linked up to a standard HiFi loudspeaker system, while the M2 Pro model is equipped with the Harman Kardon Surround Sound System. The M2 features intelligent driver assistance systems, including Driving Assistant and Parking Assistant. Within the Driving Assistant, it includes Lane Departure Warning, Lane Change Warning, Front Collision Warning with brake intervention, Rear Crossing Traffic Warning, Rear Collision Prevention, and Speed Limit Info with manual Speed Limit Assistant. For the Parking Assistant, it features Park Assist function, Active Park Distance Control (PDC), Reversing Assistant, Lateral Parking Aid, and Reversing Assist Camera.
The new BMW M2 is priced at RM 598,800.00, while the Pro Package is priced at RM 642,800.00. The Mw is available in Zandvoort Blue, Alpine White, Brooklyn Grey, Black Sapphire, and Toronto Red. And as for the interior, the M2 can be upholstered in Leather Vernasca in Black with exclusive highlight, Leather Vernasca in Black with Blue contrast stitching, and Leather Vernasca in Cognac with décor stitching.
