As a mid-size SUV, the Model Y provides ample space, with 2.1 cubic meters of cargo capacity, comfortably seating up to five passengers with their belongings. The vehicle boasts ultra-responsive motors, accelerating from 0 to 100 km/h in an impressive 3.7 seconds, while delivering a remarkable range of up to 533 km (WLTP) on a single charge. Such performance makes it an appealing option for those seeking both power and efficiency in their daily commute.

Tesla has made concerted efforts to make the Model Y more accessible to the public. With a starting price of RM199,000, the Model Y enters the market as one of the most affordable electric SUVs available. The public can view and place orders for all Model Y trims, including the Model Y Rear-wheel drive, Long Range, and Performance, at Pavilion Kuala Lumpur from today until 31st October. Deliveries are expected to commence in early 2024.

Tesla’s presence in Malaysia goes beyond just launching the Model Y. The company is dedicated to supporting Malaysia’s journey towards a zero-emission future. As part of their commitment, Tesla has unveiled a comprehensive development plan that includes experience centers, service and support centers, and an extensive charging infrastructure across the country.

Tesla’s charging network is renowned as the world’s largest fast-charging network. In Malaysia, Tesla is set to open the first indoor Supercharger Station at Pavilion KL, equipped with eight Superchargers. Furthermore, Tesla plans to establish multiple Supercharging stations at strategic locations, ensuring convenient and efficient cross-country travel for Tesla owners in Malaysia. The Model Y’s peak efficiency of 250 kW allows it to gain up to 120 km of range in just five minutes, further facilitating long-distance travel for Tesla EVs in the region.

Malaysia’s commitment to promoting low-carbon mobility aligns with Tesla’s mission. As part of the country’s efforts to support the EV industry, Tesla customers enjoy full import and excise duties exemption for newly registered zero-emission Tesla electric vehicles. In addition, EV owners benefit from 100% road tax exemption and individual income tax relief of up to RM2,500 on expenses related to EV charging facilities for the assessment year of 2023. Companies renting non-commercial EVs may also claim tax deductions on rental amounts up to RM300,000 from 2023 to 2025, encouraging businesses to adopt greener transportation solutions.
