In our increasingly digital and connected lives, low-battery anxiety is a common experience we’ve all faced. And as we embrace the future of electric mobility, the anxiety around low-battery situations extends to the cars we drive. While some are fearless in adopting electric propulsion, others find it difficult to make the transition due to concerns about running out of power unexpectedly, especially during long journeys.

Volvo Cars has a vision to offer a fully electric range by 2030. However, they also understand that many people require the assurance of a backup plan as they embark on their electrified mobility journey. To cater to such concerns, Volvo’s complete line-up of Plug-in Hybrid Electric Vehicles (PHEVs) comes equipped with a hybrid powertrain, allowing drivers to go the distance stress-free.

The advantage of PHEVs lies in giving owners the choice between the electric motor and the internal combustion engine, or even using both simultaneously. Volvo Car Malaysia offers an array of PHEV options, including the XC60 Recharge and the XC90 Recharge sports utility vehicles, making electrified Volvo cars accessible to a wider audience.

By complementing their fully electric ambitions with a transitional hybrid range, Volvo enables more drivers to take their first step towards electrified mobility without the fear of running out of battery during their journeys. If needed, the PHEVs can simply switch over to petrol to continue the trip, combining the pure benefits of electric driving with improved fuel economy.

To make the transition to electric vehicles smoother, Volvo introduced newly improved powertrains to all its plug-in hybrids in 2022, providing them with a long-range battery of 18.8kWh and an increased range of up to 90km. This extended range allows for daily commutes to be fully electric, with petrol as a backup option for longer trips.

Charging a PHEV is as convenient as charging a phone. Owners can use a dedicated charging box at home to start each day with a fully-charged vehicle, ready to go. Additionally, they can top up on power via an ordinary 3-pin power outlet away from home, making charging practical and accessible.

Volvo believes that the path to sustainable mobility starts with electric cars. Their range of electric vehicles is designed to prioritize safety for drivers, passengers, fellow road users, and the planet. By empowering each journey with electric propulsion and digital technology, Volvo instills confidence in drivers to embrace a sustainable, electric future.

For those considering taking the first step towards electric mobility, Volvo offers enticing incentives. Customers purchasing a new Volvo hybrid electric vehicle between 1 July and 30 September 2023 can enjoy complimentary car insurance for the first year and a 5-year Volvo Service Plan (VSP) worth almost RM20,000. VSP covers the first five car services, including wear-and-tear items and labor costs, along with free software updates and vehicle health check
