TotalEnergies Malaysia, in collaboration with the Malaysian Nature Society (MNS), has launched an ambitious mangrove rehabilitation project at PMU 500kV Jimah East (JMHE) in Port Dickson, Negeri Sembilan. This initiative underscores TotalEnergies Malaysia’s dedication to promoting sustainability and fostering a low-carbon economy in the country.
Mangroves are widely recognized for their numerous environmental and economic advantages. Not only do they act as effective carbon absorbers, sequestering carbon dioxide, but they also provide natural flood prevention and serve as crucial habitats for a variety of wildlife. The presence of thriving mangrove forests fosters rich biodiversity, offering socio-economic benefits to the fisheries and tourism sectors.
In addition to their environmental conservation efforts, TotalEnergies Malaysia remains steadfast in assisting Malaysia in achieving its goal of carbon neutrality by 2060. This commitment is reflected in the company’s implementation of low-carbon energy and mobility solutions, support for the expansion of renewable energy capacity, and investments in carbon sinks and carbon neutrality projects.
