Mercedes-Benz Malaysia (MBM) recently unveiled the updated lineup of the A-Class family, and it now feature the latest version of the MBUX Infotainment system, harmonious blend of sophisticated design, and cutting-edge technology. On launch, MBM brought out 4 different models starting with the A200 Progressive Line, A250 4Matic AMG Line, Mercedes AMG A35 4 Matic, and the Mercedes AMG A45S 4Matic+.

With the updated A-class, it comes with a new powerful and dynamic design. For the A200, it comes with a Progressive Line exterior while the A250 4Matic comes with the AMG Line exterior. At the front, the cars comes with a forward-sloping bonnet, power bulges, ‘shark nose’ design, redesigned radiator grille, and flat headlamps. For the A200 it will get a 17-inch 5 twin-spoke light-alloy wheels, while A 250 4MATIC has 18-inch AMG 5-twin-spoke light-alloy wheels. At the back, there is a rear diffuser and LED rear lights enhance the appearance by day and night. And of course, the cars get adaptive highbeam assist to help improve visibility on the road.

On the inside, the A class reflects a more exclusive and high-tech interior than before. The dashboard still comes with a dual screen 10.25-inch displays just like the pre-facelift car. These display is now powered by the latest generation MBUX (NTG7), and Android Auto and Apple Carplay can now be connected wirelessly. The new MBUX has the ability to be customized with three different modes (Navigation, Assistance, Service) and seven different colour worlds. Other than this, Mercedes Benz engineers also adds an additional USB-C port with fast charging capability.

For the A200 it comes with high-quality comfort seat wrapped in ARTICO man-made leather upholstery, while the interior also feature ARTICO uphostery trim with a dark carbon-fibre look trim element. As for the A250 4Matic, it gets light longitudinal-grain aluminium trim and red contrasting topstitching and the seats are wrapped in ARTICO man-made leather upholstery and MICROCUT microfiber. Safety wise, the A-class is fitted with Active Parking Assist, Blind Spot Assist, Exit Warning Assist, and Active Brake Assist. On top of that, the A250 4Matic gets additional Sports Brake System to help slowing the car down better.

In terms of powertrain, the A200 is powered by the familiar 1.33L 4 cylinder turbocharged engine mated to a 7 speed dual clutch transmission. This powertrain has the ability to produce 163hp and 270 Nm of torque, allowing the car to accelerate from 0-100 km/h in 8.3 seconds, and to a top speed of 230 km/h. For the A250, it received even more update for it’s powertrain. The 2.0L turbocharged engine now gets a new transmission, and mild hybrid technology. The new transmission is an 8-speed dual clutch transmission, and power is sent to all 4 wheels through the 4Matic system. The A250 4Matic could accelerate from 0-100km/h in 6.4 seconds, and to a top speed of 250 km/h.

Alongside the regular A-class, MBM Malaysia also introduces the Mercedes-AMG A 35 4Matic as a sadan, and the Mercedes-AMG A 45 S 4Matic+ as a hatchback. The updated car comes with revised front headlamps, AMG-specific radiator grille, and new round badge with AMG emblem. There is also a new front apron and power domes for a coherent AMG face. Additionally, the AMG models also get a new set of 19-inch AMG 5-twin-spoke alloy wheel design, rear spoiler lip, revised rear headlamps, and round exhaust pipes.

The AMG models also get red painted calipers, AMG Night Package with high-gloss black exterior feature, and AMG Aerodynamics package. The headlights now get adaptive highbeam assist plus, and there is the panoramic sunroof to brighten the interior. And the interior feels even sportier than the regular A-class. It features the AMG Performance steering wheel with AMG steering wheel buttons, and wrapped in Nappa leather for the A35, and the A45S gets Nappa leather with MICROCUT microfiber inserts.

As for the seats, the A 45 S 4Matic+ uses a Multicontour Seat package and AMG Performance Seat Package Advanced, while the A 35 4MATIC model is fitted with sport seats. The interior for both models features ARTICO man-made leather / MICROCUT microfiber AMG upholstery and Aluminium AMG Design trim elements in black / silver. There are also the red color seatbelts, AMG floor mats, ambient lighting in 64 colors, and AMG illuminated door sills with “AMG” lettering and exchangeable cover are included in both models.

In terms of powertrain, both vehicles are powered by 2.0L turbocharged engine mated to an 8 speed dual clutch and 4Matic system. For the A35, it’s powertrain has the ability to produce 306 hp and a peak torque of 400 Nm, which allow the vehicle to accelerate from 0-100 km/h in just 4.8 seconds, and to a top speed of 250km/h. The A35 also receive the 48V mild hybrid technology just like the A250. And for the top of the line A45S, this handbuilt engine produces 421 hp and a peak torque of 500Nm. This vehicle can accelerate from 0-100km/h in just 3.9 seconds, and to a top speed of 270 km/h.

And for those who wanted more style for their A45S, MBM also offers the A45S in the AMG Street Style Edition. This edition will see the vehicle painted in mountain grey magno paint job, and featuring the edition specific graphics in black/flourescent orange to highlight the aerodynamic package. The best thing about this endition is that it comes with the 19-inch AMG cross-spoke forged wheels, which is lighter and stronger than the standard A45S wheels. The AMG Street Style Edition is also equipped with AMG-specific radiator grille, darkened, Edition decals and Model badge on boot lid and wings in high-gloss black.

There are some changes on the inside as well, the seats will get the contrasting orange topstitching and the dashboard gets the AMG trim in dark / orange Street Style Edition aluminium elevates the look in the cabin. The orange label on the headrest quickly makes it clear which edition from Mercedes-AMG we are talking about here. In addition to that, the AMG Street Style Edition is equipped with Floor mats for special model.

Pricing wise, the A200 Sedan will be priced at RM 238,888, the A250 4Matic has an estimated price of RM 264,000, the A35 4Matic will also get an estimated price RM 354,000, and for the A45S 4Matic+, it will be priced at RM 509,888. And for the AMG Street Style Edition, it will be priced at RM30,000 more at RM 539,888.
