BMW Malaysia recently introduced their First-Ever BMW iX1, a combination of a BMW Sports Activity Vehicle (SAV) and an all-electric drivetrain. The latest all-electric model is set to join the highly popular BMW X1 line-up and will be available in the M Sport variant.
For the exterior, the new iX1 will feature adaptive LED headlights and the 3D taillights in a stylized L-shape giving the vehicle a distinctive look. There are also the flush door handles and a square wheel arch design that is typical found on BMW X vehicles. The iX1 will come with M Sport kit that adds on chrome kidney grille surround, body-coloured side sill and wheel arch trims, and front and rear aprons. 
As standard, the iX1 will also feature welcome lights with illuminated vehicle environment, front apron with air intake trims, and automatic tailgate operation. Lastly, the iX1 also has exclusive M Sport design elements like the M high-gloss Shadowline, M designation on both sides, and 19-inch M light alloy wheels in Double-spoke style 871M Bicolour.
Just like all modern day BMW, the new iX1 will come with the BMW Curved Display that consist of a 10.25-inch instrument cluster and a 10.7-inch control display. This curved display is running the BMW Operating System 8 and BMW Live Cockpit Professional as standard. To control all the vehicle functions, it can be altered through the central touchscreen Control Display, buttons on the M Leather steering wheel, or voice-controlled Intelligent Personal Assistant.
Other than that, the iX1 come with a new floating armrest feature frees up space for extra storage areas in the centre console. There is a My Modes button on it, with up to 6 different modes for individualisation of the driving experience. Other standard feature for the iX1 include sport seats, automatic anti-dazzle functionality, dual-zone climate control, and BMW IconicSounds Electric for a more emotional driving experience. 
In terms of storage, the iX1 come with a large 490L boot space that can be expanded to 1,495L with the rear seats folded down. This massive boot space was possible because the EV battery is located in between the axles instead of under the boot. The new iX1 will also come with BMW Digital Key Plus, BMW Heads-Up Display, Harman Kardon Hi-Fi loudspeaker system, and BMW Live Cockpit Professional with Augmented View as standard.
As for the powertrain, the new iX1 come with a compact electric motor on each axle with overboost. In total these electric motors produce a total of 313 hp and a maximum torque of 494 Nm. This allow the iX1 to accelerate from 0-100km/h in 5.6 seconds and to a limited top speed of 180km/h. Powering these electric motors are the 64.7 kWh battery, that translate to a 440 km of WLTP range. 
To charge this battery, the iX1 can take up to 11kW of AC charger and up to 130kW DC fast charger. The iX1 come with a Flexible Fast Charger and a Mode 3 charging cable for convenient charging at home or public charging stations. Charging can be managed using the My BMW App and Connected Charging feature, which allows owners to check the vehicle’s state of charge remotely and monitor all charging interactions through the BMW Charging Dashboard.
The new iX1 will feature the Adaptive M suspension as standard, which automatically adapts to road conditions and drive styles for excellent ride comfort and improved long-distance capability. The suspension stiffens when driving in a sporty manner, improving driving precision and stability while cornering at high speeds. To keep the iX1 safe on the road, it will come with various driver assistance systems, including Hill Start Assist, Speed Limiter, Lane Departure Warning, Front Collision Warning, and more.
Additionally, the new iX1 also come with Connected Package Professional, Connected Drive Services, Teleservices, Smartphone Integration with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, wireless charging tray, Intelligent Emergency Call, and tyre pressure indicators. There are also other digital services like Remote Software Upgrade, BMW Connective Drive Upgrades, and BMW Maps.
The new iX1 will be available in Alpine White, Black Sapphire, Cape York Green, M Portimao Blue, Storm Bay and Space Silver. Interior upholstery is available in either Alcantara Black with Blue Contrast Stitching, Leather Vernasca Black or Leather Vernasca Mocha.
