I have been a long-time user of the Setel app, which has become my go-to app whenever I need to fuel up my car. The main reason I prefer this app is because it allows me to easily track my fuel expenses. Recently, Setel introduced a lighter version of the app called Setel Lite, and I had the opportunity to try it out.
To provide a brief introduction, the Setel app is Malaysia’s first e-wallet that specializes in petrol payment at Petronas stations. This app has revolutionized the way we pay for fuel, making the process faster and more convenient by allowing transactions to be completed from inside the car. Additionally, I can earn points through my Mesra card, which is linked to the app. Through consistent usage, I have been able to accumulate up to 3 points per liter of fuel.
The Setel app also offers the option to purchase items from the Mesra store, which can be delivered to you while you’re refueling. Furthermore, you can buy Petronas merchandise through the app, making it an ideal gift for fans of the Mercedes AMG F1 team. With the recent update, the app has expanded its functionality to include payments for other items using the Duit Now QR code, further enhancing its usability.
However, let’s shift our focus to the Setel Lite app, which offers a simplified version of the full app. Within the Setel Lite app, you can access key features such as fueling through the Setel Wallet, earning up to 3 times Mesra points, and checking your Mesra points balance. In terms of file size, Setel Lite only occupies 35MB of space, which is significantly smaller compared to the full Setel app’s 236MB. This reduced file size ensures that Setel Lite takes up less space on your device and provides a smoother user experience compared to the full app.
Speaking from my own experience, the first thing that caught my attention about the Setel Lite app is its simplified interface. I can still conveniently fuel up using the app. Additionally, I can easily check my Setel notification inbox, payment history, and Mesra points with just a quick glance. The Setel Lite app is straightforward and incredibly user-friendly, requiring minimal time to familiarize oneself with its features.
On the downside, there are a few limitations to this simplified app. Firstly, I am unable to top up my Setel wallet using my credit card within the Setel Lite app, which is a feature I frequently use. Moreover, I cannot convert my Mesra points into credits for fuel purchases. Since these two features are integral to my usage of the main Setel app, their absence significantly reduces the functionality of Setel Lite for me.
In conclusion, I will continue using the full app because I am accustomed to its features. Losing those key functionalities has made it somewhat challenging for me to fully transition to Setel Lite. However, if your phone has limited storage space for large files, Setel Lite is a viable alternative that allows you to continue using Setel without any interruptions.setel
