At the Soft Launch of Malaysia Autoshow 2023, YB Senator Tengku Datuk Seri Utama Zafrul Tengku Abdul Aziz, Minister of Investment, Trade and Industry, spoke about the National Automotive Policy (NAP2020) and its focus on promoting a business-friendly environment and strategic investments for foreign and Malaysian enterprises.

He emphasized the importance of developing new mobility solutions that are efficient, sustainable, and customer-centric, such as Energy Efficient Vehicles (EEVs), connected and autonomous vehicles, electric vehicles, and alternative forms of propulsion, to achieve Malaysia’s net-zero carbon emissions by 2050.

The Malaysia Autoshow is set to showcase more than 80 brands with a special focus on electrification and relevant technologies. YB Tengku Zafrul highlighted the importance of incorporating Environment, Social, and Governance (ESG) elements into all businesses, driving long-term value creation, encouraging sustainable practices, and attracting viable investors.

Tengku Zafrul expressed his support for the Malaysia Autoshow as an important event to educate and generate awareness on new technologies, safety features, and lifestyle changes that may affect the way we move in the future. He also announced that Perodua will be announcing the most affordable car price for one model in Malaysia that is also EEV compliant. Visitors can also enjoy low-interest rates offered by participating banks, CIMB and AmBank, if they wish to purchase a car during the event.

Tengku Zafrul emphasized the importance of SMEs and vendors having the necessary support, including access to technological expertise, research, and development resources, to ensure competitiveness in the evolving landscape of electrification. Staying updated with the latest advancements and best practices in EV component design and manufacturing is crucial for SMEs and vendors to remain competitive.
