Chery Malaysia recently partnered up with Inokom Corporation Sdn Bhd to assemble the OMODA 5 and Tiggo 8 Pro models locally in Malaysia. The vehicles will be assembled at Inokom’s Kulim facility, which spans 200 acres.

According to Chery Malaysia Country Director Mr Leo Chen, the partnership will allow Chery to provide high-quality, technologically advanced vehicles to Malaysian consumers. The OMODA 5 and Tiggo 8 Pro models are scheduled to launch in July, following the start of production in June.

Chery’s decision to localize its operations in Malaysia is part of its broader strategy to better understand the needs and wants of local consumers. Chery plans to recruit Malaysian talent in areas such as product, sales, after-sales, branding, and marketing. It also aims to establish a dealership network with at least 30 dealers covering all major cities nationwide. By localizing its operations, Chery hopes to contribute to the Malaysian economy through technology transfer, job creation, and strategic opportunities.

The OMODA 5, which is designed with youth and global development in mind, boasts a futuristic ‘Art in Motion’ design language and Chery’s latest iteration of Advanced Driver Assistance Systems (ADAS) and wide seamless dual screens. The Tiggo 8 Pro, which is the flagship of the acclaimed Tiggo Pro series, is expected to be popular among upwardly-mobile entrepreneurs and professionals due to its combination of technology, premium touches, and seven-seat versatility.
