Porsche will be unveiling its new Cayenne model at the Auto Shanghai show in China, featuring an innovative display and control concept called the Porsche Driver Experience. This system provides a fully digital display, customizable options, and easy-to-use controls for a more immersive driving experience. The cockpit is centered on the driver’s axle, with essential controls grouped around the steering wheel. Additionally, the Cayenne’s interior takes inspiration from the Taycan electric sports car, offering a state-of-the-art digital instrument cluster, redesigned center console, and advanced steering wheel. Passengers can also engage with the vehicle and driver through an optional passenger display, and the interior design is completed with optimized connectivity functions.
The new Porsche Cayenne features a revamped cockpit with a 12.6-inch curved display as the instrument cluster, which is fully digital and can be customized with up to seven views. The controls important to the driving experience are grouped around the steering wheel, and the engine start button and gear selector are placed to the left and right of the steering wheel, respectively. The multifunction sports steering wheel has been completely reworked and includes a driving mode switch and a toggle button for selecting functions and designs in the instrument cluster.
By using the Porsche Communication Management, it turn the 12.3-inch central display into a control centre, while the newly integrated 10.9-inch passenger display allows the front passenger to operate navigation and multimedia functions. The passenger display is specially designed to not distract the driver, and videos can be streamed on it. The air conditioning control panel has a glass surface and intuitive controls, and the combination of touch recognition and haptic feedback with mechanical air conditioning switches and a physical volume controller provides a functional and aesthetically pleasing design.
The new Cayenne will come with a fancy and functional interior that looks sporty as well. Porsche has redesigned the inside of the car with a focus on width, making it look even cooler. They’ve made some changes to the dashboard and the doors, and added air vents that look really sleek. The air vents don’t have any louvers, which is something new for Porsche.
For better connectivity feature, the Cayenne will come with a special storage area that cools and charges smartphones wirelessly with up to 15 watts of power. The car has more online services, and users can control the vehicle’s functions using the Siri voice assistant. The car also has four USB-C ports: two in the front and two in the rear for fast charging. The front ports connect the phone to the Porsche Communication Management (PCM) system, and pairing is as simple as scanning a QR code. The car also has various connectivity options, including Apple CarPlay and Android Auto. Additionally, the car has an In-Car Video function that allows users to watch videos via the PCM on the central display or the passenger display when the vehicle is in motion.
