Mercedes-Benz Malaysia has announced the appointment of Bettina Plangger as the Vice President, Mercedes-Benz Malaysia and Head of Marketing & Sales Mercedes-Benz Cars Malaysia & SEA II, effective from 17th April 2023. In her new role, Bettina will be responsible for leading the marketing and sales efforts of Mercedes-Benz Cars in Malaysia and the Southeast Asia region.

Bettina expressed her excitement to be joining the team, particularly during the dynamic progress of the Malaysian automotive industry, with the country transitioning towards electric mobility. She is committed to supporting the sustainable and digitisation efforts of the Malaysian automotive market, in line with the company’s Ambition 2039 vision for the future of mobility.

Bettina has had a successful career at Daimler AG, starting in product management in 2000. She has held several marketing and sales positions, including market management responsibilities for Eastern European markets such as Hungary, Slovakia, Romania, and Serbia. In 2016, she was appointed Head of Sales at Fleetboard, where she was responsible for 35 global markets. Later, she took over Mercedes-Benz’s owned retail in Augsburg in 2018, implementing the new retail brand concept across all customer touchpoints, leading the team to top-ranking positions in sales and customer satisfaction.

Bettina’s appointment follows the completion of Michael Jopp’s tenure in Malaysia, who was the previous incumbent since his appointment in 2019.
