The partnership between Sime Singapore Ltd. and Galeon Group provides the automotive arm of Sime Darby Berhad with an immediate presence in Jakarta and Medan via two dealerships representing BMW and MINI. The joint venture marks Sime Darby Motors’ first foray into Indonesia and will serve as a platform for expansion into other provinces in Java and Sumatra, with the BMW Group seeking to grow its network in the country.

According to Sime Darby Berhad Group CEO Dato’ Jeffri Salim Davidson, Indonesia is a crucial market for the company. With one of the largest automotive markets in the region and a large and fast-growing middle and upper-middle class, the country offers significant growth opportunities. He expressed his satisfaction at partnering with Galeon Group, which has extensive experience and expertise in the local automotive industry. Davidson also noted that the joint venture is part of Sime Darby Berhad’s strategy to grow its Motors operations in the Asia Pacific region.
