Volvo Buses recently introduce their first ever Volvo B11RLE 6×2 chassis bus to the Malaysia bus market. This event is held in collaboration with its partner Truckquip Sdn. Bhd. (TQ), which is Volvo’s fully authorized chassis assembly factory in Malaysia, to allow their customers to experience the new bus in a Ride and Drive event. The new bus will bring participants around the Shah Alam area and enjoyed mixed road conditions.
The ALPHA DD12 TQ body on the Volvo B11R low entry bus makes it the supreme ruler of the road, prioritizing safety with an integrated Advanced Driver Assistance Systems (ADAS) that includes a Driver Monitoring System (DMS). The DMS alerts drivers against momentary sleep or distractions while driving, and the Alpha DD12’s wide stance lowers its center of gravity for better stability, boosting driver confidence and passenger comfort, especially on highways.
Sani Express Sdn Bhd has placed an order for 12 newly-built Volvo B11RLE 6×2 double deck buses, which will be delivered throughout the year and used for operations between Kota Bharu and Kuala Lumpur. As one of Kota Bharu’s largest bus operators, Sani provides transportation services for hotels, airports, intercity and city travel. Wan Mohd Iskandar bin Dato Salleh, Group Managing Director of Sani, is confident that the new Volvo B11RLE buses will offer outstanding comfort to his passengers for long distance travel, elevating his fleet to a new level.
Express coaches are an integral part of Malaysia’s public transportation system, connecting states and enabling cross-border travel. These coaches provide a flexible and cost-effective alternative for people to reach areas or cities that may otherwise be challenging to access. Volvo, in collaboration with local body build partners like Truckquip, has designed customized products that cater to local operational needs.
According to YB Anthony Loke Siew Fook, Transport Minister of Malaysia, this will encourage more investments into the local bus industry and ultimately benefit passengers with a safer, more comfortable, and enjoyable journey. The Minister is extremely excited to see manufacturers like Volvo working with local body build partners, bringing products that are specially designed to meet the local operational needs. This approach will help operators gain first-hand experience of the ride and drive, ultimately resulting in more efforts and investments into the local bus industry.
Mats Nilsson, Vice President of Volvo Buses Asia Pacific, considers Malaysia to be the only market in Asia that offers the Volvo B11RLE, specially designed and assembled for the local market to meet customer and passenger requirements. The fully built bus was showcased for the first time, and the glo-cal approach of global experience from Volvo, coupled with local body design, resulted in a striking and premium double-deck coach. This offering shows Volvo’s full commitment to the development of public transportation in Malaysia and their strong confidence in the growth of express coaches and premium tour buses in the Malaysian bus market.
Volvo Buses is dedicated to providing the best solutions for the daily challenges that bus operators face in the Malaysian market, ultimately creating the best on-road experience for local passengers.
