Sime Darby Auto Selection (SDAS), recently announced the launch of an Extended Warranty Programme for pre-owned BMW plug-in hybrid vehicles. Known as +HYBRID, this programme is a result of a collaboration between Guard My Ride (GMR) and RHB Insurance, and is exclusively available to SDAS customers. +HYBRID aims to provide pre-owned BMW plug-in hybrid vehicle owners with comprehensive warranty coverage for various components, including Electrical Machine Electronics (EME), High-Voltage Battery Cell, Integrated Motor Generator (Electric Motor), and Battery Management Electronics (SME).All pre-owned BMW plug-in hybrid vehicles retailed by SDAS will come with this extended warranty, effective immediately. For customers who have already purchased a pre-owned BMW plug-in hybrid vehicle from any SDAS branch before the launch of +HYBRID, they can still purchase this extended warranty plan from SDAS’ 3S centre located at Lot 33, Glenmarie. The +HYBRID programme is only applicable to BMW plug-in hybrid vehicles purchased from SDAS.
To be eligible for the +HYBRID programme, the pre-owned BMW plug-in hybrid vehicle should have mileage of under 140,000km and be less than 8 years old. Depending on the age and type of vehicle, customers can make claims of up to RM15,000 per claim and a total aggregate of up to RM100,000 per year. GMR will be responsible for all extended warranty claims and repair work, while RHB Insurance will provide the motor insurance and insurance underwriter provider.

It is important to note that terms and conditions apply, such as only being available as an add-on for cars with GMR Extended Warranty, being applicable for BMW 330e, BMW 530e, BMW 740Le, BMW X5 40e/45e, and covering four components, namely EME, High-Voltage Battery Cell, Electric Motor, and SME, but excluding programming and wiring. The warranty also has a 7-day and 500km cooling-off period from the extended warranty coverage starting date and mileage, with claims only possible after this period.
