In Malaysia, the Peugeot brand has introduced a new addition to their lineup called the Peugeot Lantrek. This marks the 4th model that the brand has launched in collaboration with Bermaz Auto Alliance Sdn Bhd. With the introduction of the Landtrek, Malaysians now have a new option in the pick-up truck segment, catering to those who seek a robust and versatile vehicle.
The Landtrek is designed to have an appealing aesthetic that seamlessly integrates with the Peugeot brand. Featuring Peugeot’s iconic vertical front grille, adorned with the prestigious Peugeot Lion at its centre, the vehicle exudes an air of confidence. Furthermore, the Landtrek boasts LED signature lighting for both the front and rear light clusters, and the inclusion of distinctive alloy rims contributes to the pick-up truck’s unique appearance.
Inside the truck, the Landtrek comes equipped with a 10-inch HD touchscreen that supports Android Auto and Apple Carplay. It also boasts automatic dual-zone climate control and piano-style ‘toggle switches,’ akin to those found in the 3008 and 5008 models. In terms of seating, the Landtrek’s front section is outfitted with chic and cosy independent seats, complete with a centre armrest for the driver and front passenger.
For the second row seats, it provides a satisfactory amount of space for passengers at around 50mm of knee room. Rear passenger comfort is also taken into consideration with the ability to recline the backrest up to 23 degrees. Additionally, the Landtrek offers practicality with a 60/40 folding seat bench for loading items into the vehicle. Furthermore, the rear seat backrest can support up to 100kg of weight when folded down, providing added convenience.
Safety wise, the Landtrek will be outfitted with a comprehensive range of safety features, such as cameras that offer a 360˚ panoramic view of the vehicle’s surroundings. Moreover, the Landtrek is furnished with 6 airbags, Electronic Stability Programme (ESP), Hill Assist Descent Control (HADC), and Land Departure Warning to enhance its safety.
Under the hood, the Landtrek is equipped with a 1.9L turbodiesel engine that can generate up to 150hp and 350 Nm of peak torque. This power is transmitted to all four wheels through a 6-speed automatic transmission. In order to tackle off-road conditions, the Landtrek boasts a ground clearance of 235mm, which is sufficient for most terrains. Additionally, it is equipped with a mechanical rear differential lock and a transfer case to ensure that the engine power is transmitted to the wheels with the most grip.
Additionally, the Landtrek offers impressive off-road capabilities with various features designed to tackle rough terrain. It can wade through water with a depth of up to 600mm, and has an approach angle of 29˚ (depending on the suspension) to navigate steep inclines. Additionally, the departure angle of 27˚ and the break-over angle of 25˚ allow for easy traversing of challenging obstacles. The Landtrek’s side slope angle of up to 42˚ and hill climb angle of 80% (on automatic gearbox) further enhance its off-road capabilities. With a ground clearance of 235mm, the Landtrek is well-equipped to handle the toughest terrain.
