Mercedes Benz recently launch the updated Mercedes Benz GLE and the GLE Coupe. The updated car will come with an updated exterior, interior, technology and equipment as well as improved powertrain options.

As for powertrain option, there are a range of 2.0L and 3.0L petrol and diesel engines. The GLEs will benefit from the introduction of the 48V technology with integrated starter generator mild hybrid system. With the updated powertrain, all GLE SUV and GLE Coupé is now electrified. To top it all off, the plug-in hybrids will be upgraded to the latest 4th generation system.

For the safety department, expect to see a few more new safety and driver assistance feature available on the new GLE. The Driving Assistance Package now receive improved specific functions, such as the Active Distance Assist DISTRONIC, Active Steering Assist and Traffic Sign Assist. One of the new feature here is the “transparent bonnet” function, where it will show a virtual view under the front of the vehicle. This helps the driver to tackle off road courses much easier.

With enhanced ability to tow a trailer, the new GLE also gets the Trailer route planner for the navigation system. This allow the driver to plan routes with the size of the trailer, and this will avoid tight spaces. There are also extended Trailer Manoeuvring Assist, which helps the driver to manoeuver the trailer through a camera-based system. The Trailer Manoeuvring Assist is an optional extra and can also be unlocked as an “Over the Air” (OTA) update after purchasing the GLE.

On the exterior, the GLE SUV and GLE Coupé will come with a new front bumper and a new front grille to give the SUV a new look. The headlights and taillights have been redesigned to suit the new look of the vehicle. With the AMG Line package, it will add diamond grille with Mercedes-Benz pattern in chrome, the AMG front apron with chrome trim element, AMG side sill panels and wheel arch cladding in the vehicle colour, as well as the AMG rear apron with diffuser-look insert.

In terms of wheel design, the GLE SUV and GLE Coupé will also come with 2 aerodynamically ooptimised light-alloy wheels in 19- and 20-inch sizes complete the line-up of choices for the GLE. On top of that, the AMG Line will be upgraded to an even larger 21-inch wheel design.

Inside the vehicle, the GLE and GLE Coupé will get the latest generation steering wheel with sensor surfaces on the horizontal spokes. Other than that, there are the chrome look of the centre and side air vents. New to the GLE are the Energizing Air Control, which it monitors air quality inside the cabin by using the air quality and fine particle sensors.

Additionally, the second generation of the MBUX (Mercedes-Benz User Experience) infotainment system turn the interior even more digital and intelligent than before. The hardware and software has been upgraded, and the screen is now 12.3 inch. The Android Auto and Apple Carplay system is now wireless, which is about time.

Other than that, we will have to wait till Mercedes Benz Malaysia decide which model to launch here in Malaysia. Stay tune for the arrival of this model locally.
