In 2022, Volvo Car Malaysia ends the year with 3,194 units sold. This is the record sales for Volvo Car Malaysia, which is 43% higher than 2021. In addition, December 2022 was the most successful month for Volvo Car Malaysia with 395 units sold in that month alone.
The sales growth was spurred by the launch of the Volvo XC40 and the C40 Recharge Pure Electric. Both models are the first 2 locally assembled electric vehicle in Malaysia, and Volvo Car Malaysia is still fulfilling the demand for XC40 Recharge Pure Electric which stretches to 2023 already. The recently launched Volvo C40 Recharge Pure Electric saw encouraging response, where Volvo Car Malaysia receive 100 units booking in just 10 days of the launch.
Volvo Car Malaysia is committed towards its global ambition of sustainability and on track to becoming a fully electric vehicle company by 2030. Volvo Car Malaysia also aims for 75 per cent of its sales to come from their Recharge Pure Electric line-up by 2025.
At a global level, Volvo Cars’ total sales of 615,121 cars for year 2022 was unavoidably affected by challenges across the supply chain and production restraints caused by component shortages and COVID-related lockdowns. Despite this, the demand for Volvo cars remained steadfast with the sales of the overall Recharge line-up with Pure Electric and Plug-in hybrid powertrains reaching 43.8 per cent in December 2022 whereby fully electric cars accounted for 20.1 per cent of global sales for the same month.
