BMW Malaysia starts the year with the unveiling the updated BMW 3 Series for the 2023 model year. The updated cars will come in 3 different variants, the BMW 320i M Sport, BMW 330i M Sport, and BMW 330e M Sport. All the new 3 series will be locally assembled, and it will bring more focused exterior, and a more innovative interior.
For the updated 3 Series, the 1st things that stand out is the new LED headlights, which come with a new inverted L. The front grille has also come with a modified outline, and the M Sport Package will add a honeycomb pattern. All the new 3 series will get a new 18-inch M light alloy wheels Double-spoke style 848 M Bicolour with staggered tyres.
For the 320i and 330i, it gets M Sport suspension as standard as part of the M Sport Package. With the 330e, it even gets the Adaptive M Suspension to provide a more enhanced driving experience. At the rear, all the new 3 Series comes with 2 distinctive chrome tailpipes that is 100mm in diameter. Other than that, all of the 3 series will come with a centre diffuser, M Aerodynamics package, and M High-gloss Shadowline.
The biggest update for the interior is the new BMW Curved Display that was 1st seen on the BMW i4. The new 3 Series will get a 12.3-inch Information Display and 14.9-inch touchscreen Control Display. On the passenger side, the new 3 series gets a larger and wider trim strips that make the interior more elegant.
Included with the M Sport Package, the new 3 series will get elements of M furnish for the interior. These include M entry sills with a stainless-steel look, M driver’s footrest and M pedals with a stainless-steel look, sport seats for driver and front passenger, hand-stitched M leather steering wheel in Walknappa leather, vehicle key with exclusive M designation, M Anthracite headliner, instrument cluster with M specific display and M Aluminium Rhombicle Anthracite interior trim. Upholstery is offered in the standard Vernasca leather Black, while the New BMW 330i M Sport and BMW 330e M Sport will also be offered an additional Mocha variant.
For the powertrain, the 320i M Sport is continue to be powered by a 2.0L inline 4 turbocharged engine that produces 184hp and 300Nm of peak torque. The 320i can accelerate from standstill to 100km/h in just 7.4 seconds and to a limited top speed of 235km/h. As for the 330i M Sport, the power for the 2.0L turbocharged engine has been enhanced to produce 258hp and 400Nm of peak torque. The 330i can hit the 100km/h mark in 5.8 seconds to a limited top speed of 250km/h.
At the top of the range, the BMW 330e M Sport has a maximum combined output of 292hp and 420 Nm of torque, with an electric motor that delivers 109hp and 265 Nm of torque on its own. This allow the 330e to do the century sprint in 5.8 seconds to a top speed of 230km/h. All the new BMW 3 Series is equipped with an eight-speed Steptronic Sport transmission.
Powering the in car systems, the new 3 Series uses the BMW Live Cockpit Professional, powered by the latest version of the BMW Operating System 8. The latest system will bring new features that include natural language via the BMW Intelligent Personal Assistant, touchscreen operation using the Control Display, the BMW iDrive Controller and the touch-only direct access controls. All variants adds on the BMW Heads-Up Display as well.
Other standard digital features of the new 3 Series are Comfort Access, Remote Software Update and BMW ID. The Connected Package Professional, which includes the digital services such as Remote Services, Apple CarPlay and Android Auto as standard. All the 3 Series will come with Driving Assistant as standard, which adds Lane Departure Warning with active steering interventions, Lane Change Warning, Front Collision Warning with brake intervention, Rear Crossing Traffic Warning, Rear Collision Warning, Speed Limit Info and manual Speed Limit Assist. On the other hand, the Parking Assistant features Park Assist, Active Park Distance Control (PDC), Lateral Parking Aid and Reversing Assist Camera. Also standard is the Reversing Assistant, which keeps a record of up to the last 50 metres driven forward and is able to drive back the exact same way in reverse if desired.
The all new BMW 320i M Sport will be priced at RM 283,800.00, the BMW 330i M Sport will be priced at RM 317,800.00, and the BMW 330e M Sport RM 298,800.00. All these price come with BMW Service and Repair Inclusive as well as Sales and Service Tax (on the road, without insurance).
