To continue to celebrate the 50th anniversary BMW M GmbH, BMW Malaysia start taking booking for the all-new BMW M2. The new BMW M2 will come with a compact dimensions, combined with hallmark M aerodynamics, well-defined edges and generously flared wheel arches truly exhibit its sporty, performance-oriented nature.
On the outside, the new BMW M2 will feature a new, unframed kidney grille design with horizontal slats. The M2 will come with Adaptive LED headlights with High-beam assistant, aluminium front fender, and a hood with a pronounced power dome. The side skirt and wheel arches has also been widened to fit the Double-spoke style M light alloy wheels in 930 M Bicolour with 19-inch at the front, and 20-inch in the rear. Behind the wheels, the M2 gets blue colour brake callipers. With the Pro Package, it will get M Compound Brake in Red High-gloss and staggered Double-spoke style M light alloy wheels in 930 M Black, and the rim sizes are similar.
At the rear, the BMW M2 will get a lip spoiler to increase aerodynamic downforce, rear diffuser, and M twin tailpipes. Standard on the M2, it gets M High-gloss Shadowline, and the M2 with Pro Package will get extended contents. On top of that, the M2 with Pro Package also come with M Carbon Roof and M Lights Shadowline. The new M2 has a cargo carrying capacity of 390L, and the seat back can fold down to expand the boot space.
Inside, the new BMW M2 will come with BMW Curved Display with M specific displays, housing the latest-generation BMW M iDrive. The BMW Curved Display will house the instrument cluster and infotainment screen. The new M2 also feature fully-electric M Sport seats with specific side bolsters, illuminated M logo on the headrests, M leather steering wheel with shift paddles and red M Mode buttons, M Anthracite headliner, Aluminium Rhombicle Anthracite M Interior Trim, eight-speed M steptronic gearbox, Setup and M Mode buttons, and Heads-Up Display. For the Pro Package, there are also the M Seat Belts, and Carbon Fibre M Interior Trim.
The all new M2 will get ambient light, three-zone automatic air conditioning, storage compartment package, Interior and Exterior Mirror Package, as well as Interior Rear-view Mirror with Automatic Anti-dazzle Function as standard. The rear gets 2 individual moulded seats, and the legroom is also better than the previous generation M2.
With the new BMW M2, it is powered by a high-revving 3.0L M TwinPower Turbo inline-6 engine. This engine has the ability to produce 460 hp and 550 Nm of peak torque. This engine has been enhanced with a new lightweight crankshaft, a racetrack-designed oil supply/cooling system and high-pressure injection at 350 bars. This engine is mated to an 8-speed Steptronic Sport transmission. This engine can accelerate from 0-100km/h in 4.1 seconds, and the top speed is limited at 250 km/h. If the driver opt for the M Driver’s Package, the top speed can be increase to 285km/h, and can be retrofit in any authorised BMW dealer nationwide.
Suspension wise, the new M2 will get new axle kinematics, increased track width, and aluminium front axle and wishbone to help reduce vehicle weight. The 5-link rear suspension has also retuned that help significantly improve the M2’s handling. The superior steering and rear wheel drive provide excellent agility and exceptional handling at high speed. To further enhance the high-performance driving experience, the M2 also get Active M Differential to make sure the car is stays planted in the corners.
Other standard equipment for the New BMW M2 are the six-piston fixed-caliper brakes at the front, Adaptive M Suspension and the M Drive Professional system.
The BMW M2 will feature the the BMW Live Cockpit Professional with BMW Curved Display as standard. The whole Curved Display is made out of a 12.3-inch fully digital instrument display and the 14.9-inch Control Display, and it will be running the latest BMW Operating System 8. Within the system, it will feature Remote Software Upgrade, Intelligent Emergency Call, Teleservices, ConnectedDrive Services, Connected Package Professional, and Smartphone Integration. On top of that, the new M2 also come with wireless charger, Harman Kardon Surround Sound System, and Comfort Access System.
In terms of the Safety and Driver Assistance System, the new M2 will come with Lane Departure Warning, Lane Change Warning, Front Collision Warning with brake intervention (collision and pedestrian warning with city braking function), Rear Crossing Traffic Warning, Rear Collision Prevention as well as Speed Limit Info with manual Speed Limit Assistant. Alongside that is the Parking Assistant, which includes features such as Park Assist function, Active Park Distance Control (PDC), Reversing Assistant, Lateral Parking Aid and Reversing Assist Camera. Also available as standard is the Cruise Control with Braking Function.
The new BMW M2 will be available in Zandvoort Blue, Alpine White, Brooklyn Grey, Black Sapphire and Toronto Red, while interior upholstery is available in Leather Vernasca in Black with exclusive highlight, Leather Vernasca in Black with Blue contrast stitching and Leather Vernasca in Cognac with décor stitching. The new BMW M2 is priced at RM 598,800.00, and the BMW M2 with Pro Package is priced at RM 642,800.00. The retail pricing are on the road without insurance, and the cars will come with Extended 5-Year Warranty & Service Package.
