BMW Group Malaysia ends the year with 14,400 units of BMW, MINI and BMW Motorrad vehicles delivered in 2022. This figure has surpassed the pre-pandemic performance, with 70% of the vehicles are locally assembled. On top of that, 31% of all BMW and MINI delivered were electrified vehicles in 2022.

Compared to 2021, BMW brand see 37% increase in sales in 2022 with over 11,800 units delivered. And for MINI, sales also increase by 25% with over 1,300 units delivered. Meanwhile, BMW Motorrad delivered over 1,300 motorcycles, recording a growth of over 20%. These equate to an increase of over 34% in total deliveries across the BMW Group portfolio from the year before.

In 2022, BMW deliver over 2,300 units of the BMW 3 Series in 2022 with the BMW 320i Sport as the best-selling model. . The BMW 2 Series was also showing strong sales figure with 1,357 units delivered, and the BMW 218i Gran Coupe leads the way. The BMW 5 Series is next with 1,328 units delivered, and half of it were the BMW 530i M Sport variant.

In the BMW X family of Sports Activity Vehicles (SAVs), there are a total of 5,100 units register in 2022. The BMW X3 is the best-selling BMW SAV with 1,300 units delivered. The BMW X1 and the BMW X5 followed closely with over 1,200 and 1,100 units delivered respectively. As for the MINI brand, the bestselling MINI is the MINI Countryman with over 800 units sold, which accounted for 65% of MINI sales in Malaysia.

On the 2-wheeler side, BMW Motorrad sold over 700 units of Adventure motorcycles. The BMW R 1250 GS Adventure contributed the sales growth with 340 units sold. The Sports segment also saw a delivery of over 230 motorcycles led by the BMW G 310 GS. BMW Group Financial Services Malaysia manage to finance over 5,000 BMW, MINI and BMW Motorrad in 2022. This is 35% of the vehicle sold last year.

2022 was the year of electrified vehicles, where BMW Group deliver over 4,000 units of electrified BMW and MINI. Over 31% of the electrified vehicle are fully electric, and the BMW iX saw over 970 units delivered.

To support all the full electric vehicle, BMW Group Malaysia has worked with local public charging network to allow EV owners access to 610 different charging facilities. Under ChargEV, there are 330 charging stations available including 26 charging facilities powered by ChargEV and Yinson GreenTech at 17 Starbucks stores within Klang Valley, Penang, Malacca and Johor. BMW Group Malaysia has also partnered with JomCharge to enable access to over 65 charging stations, and Gentari with approximately 117 charging stations nationwide. Over 80 BMW i charging facilities are also available at most authorised BMW and MINI dealerships across the country, with a strategic infrastructure expansion plan already in place for 2023.

With strong assembly capabilities anchored in Kulim, Kedah, over 11,200 BMW and MINI vehicles delivered last year were proudly assembled here, of which more than 2,500 were electrified. In mid-2022, BMW Group Malaysia also celebrated its 100,000th vehicle assembled milestone at the BMW Assembly Plant in Kulim, with the assembly of the new electrified BMW X3 – a significant achievement for the organisation in its 19th year of business in the country.
