In Malaysia, the Perodua Myvi is one of the best selling vehicles for the Malaysia market. Many owners will always find ways to make their Myvi standout in the sea of Myvis. To achieve this, the aftermarket industry created plenty of parts for the owners to choose something that suited their taste.
In order not to lose out in this segment, Perodua actually created the Gear Up package to allow owners to spice up their new Perodua straight out of the factory. Recently, Perodua unveiled the Ace bodykit Gear-Up package for the latest updated Myvi. This new Ace bodykit Gear-Up package will give your Myvi that added touch of sportiness and aggressiveness.
This time round, we’ll be taking a look at the Ace Bodykit that Perodua fitted on one of their media units. For the exterior, the Ace Bodykit adds an extension on the front bumper, side skirt, rear bumper, and a large rear spoiler. With the addition of the front bumper and side skirt, it made the Myvi look much closer to the ground, making the Myvi look more flamboyant when you look straight at it. The bodykit may make the Myvi look closer towards the ground, but so far the lower part of the bodykit did not scrape on any ramps or road humps.
At the rear, the rear bumper extension from the Ace Bodykit adds on a faux diffuser that is painted in gloss black color. The same gloss black color surround is also featured on the front bumper and side skirt for the added contrast on those parts. Lastly, the large rear spoiler that was fitted on the top of the tailgate to complete the aggressive look on the Ace Bodykit. Looking at the price, the whole set of Ace Bodykit will cost about RM 2,500, which is reasonable considering that these are official Perodua parts. For those who like to leave their window down slightly, Perodua also offers genuine door visors that are also fitted on this Myvi. The whole set of door visors cost about RM150.
On the interior, the Gear Up package does add some sporty touches for the interior. When I 1st open the door, the Myvi comes with a carbon fiber patterned with LED scuff plate. The LED scuff plate will feature a Gear Up wording that lights up when the door is open. These LED lights are not only available on the scuff plate, but the foot well also gets LED floor lighting that lights up the foot well when the door is open.
In order to make these parts light up, Perodua actually created a plug and play wire harness to make sure that no modification on the wiring needed to be done. In terms of cost, the wiring harness will cost you around RM 60, while the floor lighting is priced at RM 240, and the scuff plate will set you back about RM 260. To spice up the floors, the Gear Up package also adds on a unique coil mats with Mesh top. The coil mat does add a splash of color for the floor of the Myvi, as the mesh top of the coil mat is painted in silver color. The set of coil mat is priced at RM 180.
The Gear Up package also offers a luggage tray that was available on the Myvi that I was testing. This luggage tray is made out of water resistant materials which not only allow owners to ferry wet items in the boot, but they could remove the luggage tray to power wash it when needed. This will prevent the boot carpet from being damaged by wet items. The boot tray cost about RM 100. For those who want to get the luggage tray, coil mats and door visor together, Perodua also offers it as a package with an attractive price of RM 360.
To conclude, I think that the Ace body kit is a little too aggressive for my liking. I believe there are people out there who like this aggressive look on their Much. I personally do like the coil mats and luggage tray, which is a very practical item to have in the Myvi. For those who want to spice up their cars, but worry about voiding the warranty, Perodua offers quite a decent way for you to make your car unique to your own taste.
