The latest Defender has been design to tackle the tough off-road, but yet very capable to handle the daily mundane task. The new Defender is now built as a monocoque chassis, which is an improvement over the past Defender as the old Defenders are built on a ladder frame that makes the Defender so capable off-road, but not the best chassis for on-road comfort.

The new chassis that was used in the latest Defender is a brand new D7x body architecture, which is based on a lightweight aluminium monocoque construction. The Defender’s body architecture has the ability to tow or carry heavy loads loads with a roof rack and tow bar systems and a maximum towing capacity of 3,500kg. Its ultra-strong body is ready for overland adventures, with a maximum static roof load of 300kg.

With the new body architecture, Land Rover manage to provide the new Defender with a ground clearance of 291mm. With a wheelbase of 3,022mm (99mm longer than a Discovery), the Defender 110 has a breakover angle of 28 degrees. Wading depth for the Defender is rated at a maximum 900mm, which is supported by a new Wade programme in the Terrain Response system, which ensures drivers can wade through deep water with complete confidence.

The latest Defender will also be available with Electronic Air Suspension, can be adjusted to suit the different driving style by monitoring the body movements up to 500 times per second and respond almost instantaneously to optimise control and comfort. The air suspension has the ability to increase the ride height up to 75mm in an off-road condition, and it can also lower the vehicle body by 40mm to help out on getting in and out of the vehicle.

To help out for the off-road, the Defender will feature 3D Surround Camera with new 3D exterior perspectives alongside a 360° overhead view which makes manoeuvring easier, while off-road views, including the innovative ClearSight Ground View, provide drivers with confidence when scaling various terrains.

For the exterior, the latest Defender comes with a distinctive design with minimal front and rear overhangs providing excellent approach and departure angles. The classic Defender trademark have been re-envisioned, which are the upright stance, Alpine roof lights and a chamfered roofline, while retaining the side-hinged rear tailgate and externally mounted spare wheel.

Inside, the Defender feature modern technologies including Pivi Pro infotainment system paired with Meridian Sound System. Other convenient features packaged with the new Defender include a Head-up Display, ClearSight Interior Rear View Mirror and a Click and Go System integrated base unit for the integration of additional accessories should there be a need, for the convenience of second row passengers to hold their bags, laptops or jackets.

As for cargo space have a huge load space of up to 1,075L, and it can be loaded to a maximum of 2,380L and a maximum payload of up to 900kg. The Defender also has the option of five or 5+2 seating which makes it versatile as a family car or for loading bulky items needed for an adventure.
