Mercedes-Benz Malaysia (MBM) CKD range is now expanded with the introduction of the new locally assembled A-Class Sedan and GLA SUV. Both of the locally assembled model will be available in 2 variant, which are the 200 Progressive Line and 250 AMG Line. In order to locally assemble these models, MBM has already expanded their Pekan plant to accommodate it.

The A-Class sedan will be priced at RM 219,888 for the A 200 Progressive Line and RM 249,888 for the A 250 AMG Line. Both of these cars will continue to deliver the great utility of the CBU models, but with a lower price tag. The highlight for the A-Class sedan are the large rear headroom (944mm), 420L of cargo space, and large boot opening measuring in at a width of 950 mm and a diagonal of 462 mm between lock and lower edge of the rear window.

As for the GLA, the GLA 200 Progressive Line is priced at RM 242,888 while the GLA 250 AMG Line is priced at RM 278,888. The GLA feature a powerful overall proportions with short overhangs front and rear. The front section flows over the A-pillar into the visually compact greenhouse. Being a SUV, the GLA will come with a spacious interior that benefits the legroom in the rear and luggage compartment.

As for powertrain, both the A 200 and GLA 200 Progressive Line is powered by the 1.33L turbocharged engine that produces 163bhp and 250Nm of torque, while the A 250 and GLA 250 AMG Line is powered by a 2.0L turbocharged engine which produces 224bhp and 350Nm of torque.

The locally assembled A-Class sedan and GLA SUV will carry the similar look as their fully imported models. The only changes are on the locally assembled model is that both of the A 200 and GLA 200 Progressive Line lost out on the ambient lighting.
