Recently, BMW unveiled their all-new BMW 2 Series Active Tourer which will offer a host of new features to create an even more tempting proposition in the premium compact segment. It will also boasts significant advances in all key areas and comes with an array of innovations that was only available on BMW’s more expensive model.
What to expect for the brand new BMW 2 Series Active Tourer?
- Sporting elegance expressed in a new style with increased presence
Staying true to the Sport Tourer shape, the new 2 Series Active Tourer is now bigger by 32mm in length, 24mm in width, and 21mm in height. While the wheelbase is unchanged at 2,670mm, its track widths have been increased by 25mm at the front and 26mm at the back.
- Optimised aerodynamic properties and acoustic comfort
BMW has optimize the design of the 2 Series Active Tourer to bring benefits for both driving dynamics and efficiency. By controlling the air flow around the car, BMW engineers manage to achieve a low drag coefficient of 0.26 from a MPV.
- Sport, Luxury and M Sport models
The new BMW 2 Series Active Tourer will be offered in Sport, Luxury and M Sport specification. Each specification will carry it’s own special trim that will suit different customer’s needs.
- Large selection of exterior colour shades and light-alloy wheels
The new 2 Series Active Tourer will be available in 2 non-metallic and 9 metallic paint, while rim size will be available as an option starting from 17-inch up to 19 inch.
- Progressive premium ambience for the interior
Whole interior have been completely redesign, it carries the styling cues from the BMW iX. With the newer car, BMW engineers has increased the headroom, shoulder room and elbow room in both rows of seats compared to its predecessor. Rear seat passengers also enjoy a noticeable increase in kneeroom over the previous model. Boot capacity measured in at 470 to 1,455 litres.
- Next generation interior technology
The BMW iDrive will now be running the new BMW Operating System 8 software along with powerful connectivity and data processing. The instrument cluster and control display is form by a 10.25-inch and 10.7-inch, which BMW merge it into a curved display. Wireless Android Auto and Apple Carplay will now be available in the latest 2 Series. To keep the software up to date, the BMW 2 Series will be updated over the air through either a smartphone or the built-in Sim Card.
- New engines, seven-speed Steptronic dual-clutch transmission as standard, 48V mild hybrid technology, plus two plug-in hybrid models
The new 2 Series Active Tourer will be available in a new 1.5-litre three-cylinder engine that produces 156bhp that is assisted by a 19 hp electric motor from the new 48 V mild hybrid system that has a combined output of 170hp and 280Nm in the 220i form that push the car from 0-100km/h in 8.1 seconds.
For the 223i, there is the 2.0-litre four-cylinder that develops 218hp (204hp plus 19hp) and 360Nm that can accelerate from 0-100km/h in 7.0 seconds. As for the diesel variant, the 218d’s 2.0L diesel engine produces 150hp and 360Nm that can accelerate from 0-100km/h in 8.8 seconds.
All variant of the 2 Series Active Tourer will be available in the new version of the seven-speed Steptronic dual-clutch transmission. And from summer 2022 onwards, there will be 2 more PHEV variant of the 2 Series Active Tourer available, which will be the 230e and 225e. The 230e is expected to have 326hp while the 225e will come with 245hp.
- Great to drive and comfortable, whatever the situation
The chassis of the new BMW 2 Series Active Tourer has been engineered to combine driving pleasure and ride comfort. The 2 Series Active Tourer also now comes with near-actuator wheel slip limitation to maximise the car’s agility.The braking system in the new BMW 2 Series Active Tourer is unique in its segment and delivers outstanding stopping power and reliable pedal feel.
- Safety and driver assistance systems
Automatic Speed Limit Assist controls the car’s speed by maintaining the desired safe distance from vehicles in front and observing speed restrictions along the route. Active Cruise Control with Stop&Go function can maintain the preferred speed, Front-collision warning, and Lane Departure Warning are also available.
