Ford Malaysia expanded the Ford Ranger Raptor range with the return of a familiar powertrain. This powertrain is the 2.0L Bi-Turbo Diesel, which joins the 3.0L twin-turbo EcoBoost V6 petrol engine counterpart in the Next-Gen Ranger Raptor line-up.

With this new powertrain, it will provide powerful performance while maintaining fuel efficiency through extensive research and development. Paired with the e-shifter 10-speed automatic transmission, the Next-Gen Ranger Raptor 2.0L Bi-Turbo Diesel delivers up to 210 PS at 3,750 rpm and 500 Nm of torque at 1,750-2,000rpm. It achieves a fuel consumption of 8.2L/100km through features such as stop/start function, battery monitoring system, high-efficiency alternators, LED daytime running lights (DRL), and more.

As for the chassis, the 2.0L Bi-Turbo Diesel Ranger Raptor shares the same reinforced chassis as its V6 counterpart, including the C-pillar, load box, spare wheel, and unique frames for various components. This design ensures the vehicle can handle challenging off-road conditions. It also features redesigned suspension with FOX 2.5-inch Internal Bypass shock absorbers, a refined Watt’s link at the rear, and an advanced permanent four-wheel drive system with an electronically controlled on-demand two-speed transfer case and rear locking differentials.

The vehicle is equipped with FOX 2.5-inch Internal Bypass shock absorbers that use Teflon™-infused oil, reducing friction by around 50 percent compared to the previous Raptor. It also includes a high-strength steel bash plate, under shield, transfer case shield, and tow hooks for recovery purposes. The updated Terrain Management System offers seven selectable drive modes to adjust various elements based on road conditions. In Baja mode, an anti-lag system keeps the turbochargers spinning for up to three seconds after throttle release, enabling faster acceleration.

For the exterior, the 2.0L Bi-Turbo Diesel Ranger Raptor have a similar exterior design as the V6 variant. Both models feature flared wheel arches, bold F-O-R-D lettering on the grille, a separate bumper, and Matrix LED headlamps with signature C-clamp LED daytime running lights (DRL). They also share 17-inch alloy wheels with BFGoodrich all-terrain KO2 tires, Ford Performance scuff plates, cast aluminium side steps, and LED lights all around, giving them a tough and functional presence on and off the road.

Inside the cabin, both models maintain a high-performance design theme. They have jet fighter-inspired leather sports seats, an accented instrument panel, a leather gear knob with e-shifter, a premium-grade leather steering wheel, and cast magnesium paddle shifters. The cabin is fully digital and includes a 12.4-inch digital instrument cluster and a 12-inch centre touchscreen with Ford’s SYNC 4A infotainment system. It supports wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto connectivity. Additional interior features include a Bang & Olufsen sound system with eight speakers, four USB charging ports, a wireless Qi charger, a 12-volt power socket, and a 360-degree camera.

In terms of safety, the Next-Gen Ranger Raptor 2.0L Bi-Turbo Diesel shares the same suite of active safety features and advanced driver assistance systems as the V6 variant. These include seven airbags, Adaptive Cruise Control with Stop-and-Go and Lane Centring, Emergency Stop Signal, Blind Spot Information System (BLIS), High Beam Assist, Reverse Brake Assist, Evasive Steer Assist, and Rear Cross-Traffic Alert.

With a price tag of RM248,888, the 2.0L Turbo Diesel Ranger Raptor is available in Code Orange, Absolute Black, Arctic White, Blue Lightning, and Conquer Grey. The vehicle comes with a five-year warranty or 160,000 km, with an option to extend to seven years with the Premium Care extended warranty package.

This includes a Kenwood DRV-A700W dashcam with a 3.7-megapixel Wide-Quad High Definition (WQHD) resolution, and a special offer of RM500 discount on one Ford Ranger Getaways.
