This has been achieved by fine tuning the vehicle’s aerodynamics, with extensive wind tunnel and flow tests conducted by AMG’s aero-specialists. To achieve this, there are a few design features such as the front splitter, flics and fins on air intakes, AIR CURTAINS on the sides, AMG side sill panels, and a rear apron with an aerodynamically optimized diffuser and six longitudinal fins.
While the low drag coefficient body helps the vehicle to cut through the air smoothly, AMG engineers also need to ensure that the vehicle would not lift at high speed by incorporating a larger rear spoiler. AMG engineers also equipped the AMG EQS with a set of 21-inch AMG light-alloy wheels in Aero or Heritage design, which also have aerodynamic properties.
On the AMG EQS, AMG engineers gave it a 400V battery architecture. The high voltage battery on the AMG EQS rated at 108.4 kWh, and the battery management system and wiring are specially configured for AMG. This battery can be charged with up to 200 kW at quick-charging stations, adding up to 300 kilometers of range in 19 minutes. For AC chargers, the AMG EQS could be charge with a 22kW speed.
