The state-of-the-art fifth-generation Forester is renowned for its safety features and driving dynamics, and the new range comes equipped with innovative stereo cameras that see almost double that of the previous version, offering even greater safety and comfort to drivers. The new 2023 Forester models can be viewed by the public at Sunway Pyramid, LG2 Orange Concourse (in front of Harvey Norman), from 3 to 7 May 2023, alongside the new WRX Wagon, BRZ, and XV.
The main update for the all-new Forester is the latest version of EyeSight 4.0 Advanced Driver Assist Technology. This enhanced safety system ensures a safer and more comfortable driving experience, with EyeSight 4.0 providing improved visibility and driving support. This driving support system, located near the rear-view mirror, offers nine functions, including three new features.
The Autonomous Emergency Steering function steers the Forester away from vehicles or obstacles in front to prevent accidents. The Adaptive Cruise Control system now includes a Lane Centering Function that keeps the Forester in the middle of the lane, even on slightly curved roads. EyeSight 4.0’s Lane Departure Warning includes Lane Departure Prevention, nudging the steering wheel towards the inside of the lane when the driver is about to cross lane markings while travelling at 60km/h or more.
EyeSight 4.0’s Pre-Collision Braking has been improved, covering more traffic scenarios at intersections, and can detect obstacles in neighboring lanes. Subaru Rear Vehicle Detection and High Beam Assist provide added safety features, detecting traffic approaching from behind and improving visibility at night or in dark areas. HBA switches between high and low beams automatically, adjusting to lighting conditions and traffic, while SRVD warns the driver during lane changes and reversing from parking lots. These features offer innovative, hassle-free ways to enhance driving safety.
Another update on the latest Forester would be X-Mode, where it makes the Forester easier to drive on rough and uneven roads, with ‘Snow/Dirt’ and ‘Deep Snow/Mud’ modes available. The X-MODE Auto Restore system now switches to standby mode when the speed exceeds 40km/h and resumes when it drops below 35km/h, helping drivers focus on the road. The Hill Descent Control feature helps drivers maintain a constant speed when driving downhill, and now operates more smoothly than before.
The new Forester 2023 has been given a sportier and more dynamic look with the introduction of two new body kits: the GT Lite and GT Edition. These body kits, which include front and rear lip extensions, side skirts, and a roof spoiler, not only add to the vehicle’s aesthetic appeal but also improve its aerodynamic performance. The GT Edition comes with bespoke 18-inch alloy wheels, while the i-L EyeSight and GT Lite Forester have 17-inch alloy wheels. The suspension has been re-tuned to provide a smoother ride and better handling.
Inside the Forester i-S EyeSight with the new GT accessory kit, the cabin has been upgraded with two-tone diamond-quilted designer leather seats inspired by European grand tourers. The front seats have the GT logo embossed on the sides for added exclusivity. The interior has also been improved with an LED main cabin light, which provides brighter illumination while consuming less power, and rear upper cargo hooks in the boot, adding practicality and convenience. The rear seats can be folded down to create a flat cargo floor, allowing for easy storage of luggage and equipment suitable for all lifestyles, from road trips to megamall shopping sprees, family adventures, and camping trips.
To make the new Subaru Forester an even better SUV, it has been equipped with 4 Subaru Core Technologies that translated to optimize handling, maximum comfort, and enhanced safety. Starting with the Subaru Global Platform (SGP), where it has been engineered to improve straight-line stability, reduce noise and vibration, and enhance ride comfort. Next up is the Symmetrical All-Wheel Drive (SAWD), which distributes power to all four wheels for maximum control.
The 3rd technology that the Forester have is the Boxer engine, and it’s being mated to a Lineartronic continuously variable transmission (CVT) with seven virtual speed.
